    3. *Page* John Henry Dunn married Trissie Ann Page; his uncle, John Dunn, married her sister, I believe named Sarah Jane Page. Both were daughters of *Gazaway Page,*born about 1817 in Union County, South Carolina, died in Gilmer County, Georgia, in late 1883. His (first) wife, their mother, was named * Nancy*; I do not know her maiden name. Gazaway was also an ardent Methodist in the Cartecay, Georgia area, and also pro-Union (like the Dunns) during the Civil War. Another daughter married another Methodist minister, so he had two sons-in-law who were Dunns and two who were Ministers. Our ancestor, his wife, was named Nancy but we do not know her maiden name. After she died, Gazaway married Julia Sorrels and moved to Flat Mountain in remote northwestern Gilmer County, where he died on November 1, 1883. Gazaway Page was the son of *Richard Page* (born about 1786 in *Virginia*; died in Georgia after 1870) and his wife *Ann.* I suspect her maiden name was Gazaway, because this was a prominent Methodist family living near the Pages in Union County, South Carolina, and would explain the name Gazaway Page for the eldest son. I cannot prove her maiden name at this time, however. Richard Page was born in Charlotte County, *Virginia*, moved as a boy to Union County, South Carolina, and moved some time in the 1840s to Gilmer County, Georgia, perhaps after a residence in Rabun County, Georgia. His parents were *Richard Page*, born in the 1750s in *Virginia*, who served in the Revolution (we have at least two Revolutionary veterans on the Dunn side, James Kell and Richard Page), married*Elizabeth Jones *in 1779 in Charlotte County, *Virginia*, and later moved to Union County, South Carolina. He lived there until his death in 1833; she died there in 1838. The elder Richard Page was almost certainly the son of *Nathaniel Page, *who seems to have lived in a couple of *Virginia* Counties before moving to South Carolina. His wife was probably *Hannah, *name unknown. There is some reason to suspect his parents were *Robert and Wine Page, *though this is not yet proven. They're shown so on the enclosed charts but the proof is not complete. As for Elizabeth Jones, who married Richard Page in 1779, she was a daughter of *Richard Jones *of Caroline County, who may have been the son of another Richard Jones. They seem to be linked to a fairly widespread Jones family of central *Virginia*, ut these links are not yet complete.

    3. Hi, I found several of these Pages in my copy of 'The Family of John Page of Haverhill, Mass.' Turns out they are about 4th cousins, 5 times removed from me (specifically the husband of Abigail Tilton Morrill (Sanborn) Page). They are related in some fashion to the 'Group D' Page DNA folks so maybe someone else in 'Group D' will see the connection also. -Ralph Page > Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2010 17:00:14 -0400 (EDT) > From: Jims5150wife@aol.com > Subject: [PAGE] Page Pictures > To: Page@rootsweb.com > Message-ID: <2e897.429262ee.3977685e@aol.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" > > > > While researching the Pages, I came across an old cloth padded photo > album, probably from the turn of the (last) century with a > lot of pictures of > Page relatives. 1. [PAGE] Info re. JOSEPH PAGE b. Prov. Connaught, Ireland
    2. Allison Hockman
    3. I recently purchased from the Irish Family History Foundation the following record.  I do not know whether or not it applies to my g. grandfather Joseph Page, but thought I would pass along the info for others' usage.  Also, does anyone know what the Address word Millinstara means?  I cannot find it listed anywhere. CHURCH BAPTISM RECORD Name:  Joseph Page Date of Baptism - Birth   4 Jan 1831 Address:  Millinstara Parish: Clontuskert County: Co. Galway Denomination: Roman catholic Father: Page, Christopher Occupation: Not recorded Mother: Roe, Catherine Sponsor 1: Comer, Patrick Sponsor 2: Loughnane, Catherine Notes: None listed My Joseph Page's Dec. 1861 Civil War Enlistment Record shows he was b. in Connaught, Ireland and he was 25 years of age at that time. His birth date has always been confusing, though, as his gravestone which is located in Troy, Lincoln, MO, Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, lists it as 25 Dec 1835, his mil. pension files shows dates all over the place, and various census records show it as May 1835, or 36, or 37. The 1860 census records lists his age as 30. Joseph's church record of his sec. marriage lists his parents as Christopher and Mary Page. Christopher b. 1802 in Ireland, Mary b. 1802 in Ireland and Patrick Page b. 1833 in Ireland are listed as neighbors of Joseph Page on the 1860 Lincoln Co. MO census record. The only two conflicting parts of the above IFHF record is possibly the 1831 date and his mother's given name. Everything else appears to be correct. In the IFHF records there is a 1828 marriage listing for a Christopher Page in Co. Galway and another 1828 marriage listing for a Mary Roe in Co. Galway. No marriage listing in that county for a Catherine Roe. There are two other Co. Galway baptismal records that appear to be associated with Christopher Page's children. One for Patrick in 1833 and one for Elizabeth in 1835. I know Joseph's bro. Patrick was born abt. 1833 in Co. Galway, per the census record and his Civil War record. I have no info re. a sister Elizabeth Page. Perhaps Catherine Roe's full name was either Mary Catherine or Catherine Mary Roe. At this point, I have no way of knowing for certain whether this record applies to my relative. You can search various records at the IFHF for free, once you register at their site. However, if you want to view a transcription of the actual record, it will cost $5.00 Euro per record. The original document is not made available to you. I have not yet purchase any of the additional PAGE records. Also, on numerous searches when I entered the Surname PAGE, the names McGill, MacGill and Gill came up with the Page listings. Does that mean anything to anyone? Allison

    3. Contact George Page about list and DNA test . gwpage@erols.com I recommend the DNA test as there were tons of Pages over here in the New World back in the 1700's with the same names and they moved around more than you might think. A John Page from Virginia might have moved to Massachusetts or he might have moved to the Carolinas and his siblings could have spread out to other places. With DNA testing, you can be placed on the right branch of the tree. Of course, all of us Pages over here would love to make contact with Ancestors in England, so do sign up at least to be on the list. Ron -----Original Message----- From: page-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:page-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Marjorie Telerski Sent: Tuesday, July 06, 2010 12:11 PM To: page@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PAGE] PAGE Digest, Vol 5, Issue 18 Dear Ruthanne, We have been in contact before. I have a Jacob O. Page from Ontario b. 1823 . He moved to Illinois and married 1866 to Caroline Long Overholser. He died in Danville Ill. in 1868 with one child Oliver Jacob Page. I now have a direct line DNA on file at Family Tree DNA. Our matches suggest that Jacob may be related to a Thomas Page 1650 came to Isle of Wight VA . Jacob may have come from a relative who left England later or was a Rev. War Tory who left for Canada . I'm still hoping for more clues.
