    3. When you see an email from any RootsWeb list that contains nothing but an url (web address), DO NOT CLICK ON THE URL - do NOT go to that website. A legitimate researcher would NOT send a message containing nothing but an url. The "bad" emails come from a valid listmember's e-mail address, which has been "hacked" (stolen) and then used for sending spam or some such. I removed the e-address from this list; because it had been stolen. The listmember will need to get a new e-address, and will need to re-sub with it. Your listowner for the PAGE list, Carol <cch@netdoor.com>, <cchcap@comcast.net> http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/GEN-links.htm

Check the link below, found on the Pageland, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce website: _http://pagelandcham.net/pageland-sc/history_ (http://pagelandcham.net/pageland-sc/history) This article on the history of Pageland indicates that the town was renamed at the time of incorporation after Adolphus High "Dolly" Page, the railroad engineer who apparently was responsible for getting the railroad to run through the town, formerly Blakeney's Crossroads. The town at the time of its application for incorporation, 1907, had a population of 157. I did not find any Page families enumerated in Blakeney's Crossroads in an Ancestry.com search of both the 1900 and 1910 census, but do not know if the town name would have been used in these enumerations (probably not in the former). There was, however, a farming family in the county, head of household was A. H. Page. I do not know if there is any connection there. Not knowing the history of the Adolphus High Page family, I am unable to give you the answer you are looking for. Following the family further back might prove helpful if you so choose. Judy Dugan

    3. The will of Leonard Page names Lucy Page as a daughter. His will was made in 1836 and Lucy was not married. All of her sisters are named by their married name, so by 1836 Lucy was not married. Anna McCurdy the first wife of Ninian Tannehill died about 1835 according to most researchers. I believe that Ninian and Lucy Page married about 1838 or so and the children all belonged to Ninian and Anna. Lucy Page and Ninian Tannehill had no children.

    3. The most accessible source of Dolores' material that I know is a series of Page articles (8 or 9?) she did on this list ca. 1998. Have you searched the archives? She's undoubtedly on this list now--perhaps has a better suggestion! I'm also sure much of it is available through LDS. My Page research is primarily based on Dolores' but I've verified and found connections she didn't have. It's rather unique--my late husband was descended from Exolheath about five times: Exolheath's son John, through his son Leonard, his daughter Elizabeth (m. David Saunders) and his daughter Nancy (married her cousin William Page) Exolheath's son Benjamin father of William who married his cousin Nancy (see above) and father of John J. who married his cousin Mahala, daughter of the Rev. Leonard Page. A chart of his Page lineage is a paen to cousin marriages. :) > From: besum@insightbb.com > To: page@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2011 10:54:34 -0600 > Subject: Re: [PAGE] Ninian Tannehill > > is there a wed site or place to see the work of Dolores Rutherford. 3. The children that are mentioned are probably the only ones still living when the will was probated. There is one child, Mariah who can be found with her sister in 1850 on the census. But she is not mentioned in the will. It could be that Lucy married Ninian about 1815 or so as there is a 10 year spread in the ages between Alfred in 1805 and Preston in 1816. But I am guessing.,

    3. Ah--well, I didn't remember a will for Leonard--can't get more explicit than this--I shall certainly add Lucy to Leonard Page's children! But it's dated 1859 so no telling when they were married. Before 1850 is about the best we can currently do. Could certainly have been late and all those children Anna McCurdy's. Given your grandson w/middle name McCurdy it sounds plausible. Perhaps we need to figure out where Lucy was before she married Tannehill? Wouldn't you assume these named were the only living children in 1869? > From: jbrach@frontier.net > To: PAGE-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2011 09:25:39 -0700 > Subject: [PAGE] Abstract > > The following is a will abstract. 3. I don't have Lucy as a daughter of Leonard Page, but my files are old, from Dolores Rutherford years ago. I see in several posts that she may have changed her mind about Lucy based on material you sent her? The will? Would you share that please? Is Lucy named as Tannehill in the Rev. Leonard's will ca. 1836? Is there another source for the marriage wth an earlier date? Since in 1850 Tannehill was married to Lucy, age 67, I think she almost has to be a second wife, but census records didn't give me any clue to when wives changed. Even if Lucy married Tannehill as early as 1836, she would have been over childbearing age. It may be that none of these children are Lucy's. Even the youngest one--age 20 in 1850--was born when Lucy was approaching 40--certainly could be Lucy's of course, as could others born in the late 1820s, but I do think it's clear she was Ninian' second wife--need a marriage record!
