    3. Greetings friends/ I always knew this group were helpful . Many thanks to Ian for his help . My James Page 's parents were Thomas Page and Elizabeth ?? from his baptism 1786 Aug 15 St James Clerkenwell. Not much to go on to find a marriage for Thomas and Elizabeth . Any suggestions? This is unrelated to my present search but I found on the records of St Edmonds Church Abbess Roding The rector was listed for 1582 as Thomas Page, Does any one connect with this? It's bedtime in Ontario so Goodnight everyone .

    3. Hello Muriel - I don't think that Thomas Page and Susannah (Middleton) were the parents of your ancestor. Thomas Page is my 4 x great grandfather. I wish I could discover more about his origins. He was born around 1744 (not as in your posting). He died in Dartford in 1821, the age at death being given as 77. His wife, Susannah, died later the same year.Susannah was born in 1747 (daughter of Thomas and Susannah Middleton)Thomas Page and Susanna were married in Darenth, Kent 1767 (both signing the register with their mark, so illiterate)They had the following children:Thomas 1769 (Darenth)Richard 1771 (Darenth)William 1773 (Charlwood, Surrey) - died in early childhoodJohn 1775 (Charlwood, Surrey) - died in early childhoodJames 1777 (Wilmington) NOTE that James died (Wilmington) aged fourCharles Robert 1784 (Wilmingon)Henry - born circa 1785, date and place N/K I have seen all the above records on the Cityark site (excellent source of images of Parish Registers for the Medway region). The Charlwood records I have only seen in transcript form. The family relationships were confirmed in details of Court of Chancery proceedings. So, unless for some reason Thomas and Susanna were living in Clerkenwell in 1786, when your James was boren, it seems unlikely (though not impossible) that your ancestor's parents were Thomas and Susannah.Have you seen the parish register for St John's Clerkenwell? If so, did it give the names of both parents? Those Public Members Trees for the Page family contain many errors and unchecked suppositions! With best wishes from CornwallIan

    3. Thanks Ian. You have confirmed what I suspected. So back to the Drawing Board!! Yes the family trees are good hints but they often lead us down erroneous paths. I count my own in that!!!Best wishes M. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Ian Buckley" <yelkcub@hotmail.com> Sent: Friday, September 16, 2011 5:43 AM To: <page@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [PAGE] PAGE-MIDDLETON > > Hello Muriel - I don't think that Thomas Page and Susannah (Middleton) > were the parents of your ancestor. 3. Hello Page Listers I have re registered on this list after some time. Looking for help in clarification. My 2XGt Gandfather was James Page bapt. in St Johns Clerkenwell in 1786 m Elizabeth Wilson 15th Nov 1806 (St Edmonds Abbess Roding Essex It looks like his father was Thomas |Page bapt/born London England Sept 2nd 1755 and married Susannah Middleton Died in1821 in Dartford Kent. After this Ancestry has many public trees with some confusion, Some have his marriage at 12 years of age which for male I doubt!! I am confident info. up to James is correct but after that it becomes muddy. Can any one throw any light on this , All much appreciated. Muriel in Northern Ontario.

Anyone out there with land records from NY or PA for Archelaus Page or Christian Holmes his father-in-law? This would be 1800-1835 or so. Holmes was on the 1810 & 1820 census in Oswegatchie twp, and in 1830, Elk Creek Twp, Erie Co, PA. I remember reading/hearing somewhere along the line that Christian Holmes was a sea captain. Can anyone tell me where that info is stated? I can't find it in my notes. While reading a history of Ogdensburg (very interesting history) I found that there was a sea captain (in 1817 on the St Lawrence and Great Lakes) of a schooner, captains name was C. Holmes. He was master of a brand new schooner called Experiment, and of one called Oswegatchie. I'm trying to make a connection to our C(hristian) Holmes. Maybe this was him? 3. Michelle, My Page family is different form yours, but there is an interesting coincidence in that I have families that were in Elk Creek Twp Pa in about that time.  My ancestor Joshua Page (b. NH) lived in Herkimer Co, NY, when young and married Sarah Wittum who was born in Elk Creek Twp.  There is a town in that Twp formerly known as Page Corners and had a factory that manufactured Oars.  This was in the 1810-1830 timeframe.  I don't know how Joshua and Sarah met, whether he ever lived in Elk Creek, or was related to the Page factory owners.  By1816 they had moved to Indiana.   Small world. --- On Tue, 4/19/11, MDetwiler <mdetwilr@yahoo.com> wrote: From: MDetwiler <mdetwilr@yahoo.com> Subject: [PAGE] Archelaus fam history To: "PAGE@rootsweb.com" <PAGE@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 8:38 AM Hi, Archelaus Page descendants.
