In historical documents I found a Mr. John Page of Elizabeth City County, VA on a list of the Parishes and Ministers in Virginia as of 30 June 1680. There is no parish listed for the entry. This was NOT a reference to Col. John Page the immigrant merchant of York Co. who arrived c. 1650! [Source: "Calendar of State Papers, Colonial Series, America and West Indies, 1677-1680" Preserved in the Public Record Office (London: Her Majesty's Stationery Office, 1896), p. 556. Note this book was printed during the reign of Queen Victoria and found in the Library of John Hopkins Univ. in Baltimore several years ago.] Does anyone have any idea as to who this minister was, and what happened to him? George W. Page
I apologize for resending this again. I didn't include a subject the first time. Pardon the blanket message but desperate problems call for desperate measures. There are several Abiah Pages in the John Page of Haverhill, MA line; however, none of their descendants are shown in the best reference book of that line. ["The Family of John Page of Haverhill, Mass, A Comprehensive Genealogy From 1614 to 1977" by Lynn M. Case and Paul Sanderson (Higginson, 1978). The book in reprinted form is available from Higginson on line under the letter "P." Double click on: <http://www.higginsonbooks.com/>] The latest entry in the book is on p. 59: Abiah Page. b. 1790 in Haverhill, is shown to be the son of Thomas (Amos, Thomas, Cornelius, John) Page. Thomas Page was b. 30 Mar. 1766 in Haverhill, MA and served in the Hudson Valley in the Rev.. He resided in VT and Milan, OH. George W. Hi cousins, Yesterday I received some marriage back up from a great volunteer in Burt County Nebraska. It shows that Howard Page, age 62 of NY, married Rachel Hamer there in 1889. (First wife, Elizabeth Van Alstine may have died in 1888 - have not verified this date yet.) Best of all it shows his parents names - Abiah Page and Elizabeth Wellis (Willis?). And on the 1855 census from Herkimer County (where Howard, Elizabeth and first children are listed in town of Ohio) there is a Abial and Betsy Page and daughter, Mary living in the town of Newport, Herkimer County. Does this Abial or Abiah fit with anyone else's Page family? (A witness to the wedding is W.S. Page, and I do not think this is one of Howard's children.) Pat MacEachern

I didn't pick up on these messages when they first began, but I am searching for a Rosella "Rose" Page who was born about 1854 in, I believe, Wisconsin. The birth information is from a census, so it is estimated and might or might not be correct. Rosella was in a family that included a younger sister Frances and older siblings Moses, Sarah, and Christopher Page. I cannot tell from the message whether Page is a maiden name or the name from a first spouse. Might there be any connection? Hi Pat, In looking on the road atlas, Burbank, SD, is so small it doesn't appear in the index. In checking NE possibilities, I see Homer, Hooker, and Hooper. Of course, if it is a small community, it also won't be on the atlas. Vicki, There is a very good possibility that the Ann Schleaght living with the family was the wife Mary's mother. Often when a parent became elderly and alone, they moved in with a son or daughter. After watching the female given names on the list,is it any wonder that things can get confusing. I have a sister Susan,a cousin Nancy and am married to a woman named Anna. So right there it adds to the muddle. Brian C.Page PS. I am from the New Hampshire Deacon Robert PAGE and the Hingham/Haverhill MA John PAGE families
Hi Alice, No connection that I can see. There seem to be a lot of Susan Page's out there, but ironically at this point I have no Susan's in my line. My mother (who was Lydia Brinkman b.1913 Holyoke, MA) named me after her obstetrician and my middle name (Charlotte) came from her best friend, so there is no family trend to my name. I do have a Nancy Page, but that was her maiden name. Possibly another Nancy, but she would have married a Page. I'll keep your e-mail filed Away.
