Can anyone tell me where I can get some comprehensive information about this line. My mother told me before she died that she was a direct descendent of Governor John Page of Virginia. I haven't yet been able to find necessary info. Does anyone have a list of his descendents. I understand he had 20 children...ten by each wife? I would REALLY appreciate your help. Thanks. Pat
The best reference to this Page line of Virginia is Dr. R.C.M. Page's, "Genealogy of the Page Family in Virginia ...," First Edition, 1893, Second Edition printed in 1972. It states that Gov. John Page had 12 children by his first wife, Frances Burwell, but three of them died as children. By his second wife Margaret Lowther, dau. of William Lowther of Scotland, he had another 8 children. There is no Joshua Page in the meager and incomplete index or in the list of his 17 children shown in the book! As Governor John Page's last two children were b. about 1795 (Barbara Page) and 1807 (Lucy Burwell Page), your Josiah would probably have been a grandson of the Gov. by one of his older sons from his first marriage. I have not pursued the details of the descendants of the immigrant Col. John Page, but they are available to a certain degree in Dr. R.C.M. Page's book and in the book, "Rosewell Garland of Virginia" by Claude O. Lanciano and ably assisted by from close friend Cecil Wray Page of Gloucester, VA, printed in 1978. The Page-Nelson Gen Society of Virginia is very active, having held reunions and meetings. Those of you who are descended from Col. John Page should submit hard copy info of your Page- Nelson ancestors to Margery & Dick Ludwig of Williamsburg through the Society's address: P.O. Box 396, Gloucester, VA 23061-0396, which is also Wray's address. I am seeking information on and descendants of Daniel B. Page and Beda Elie Miller. Daniel was born in 1834, parents names unknown. Beda was born in September 1842 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois to Reuben and Nancy Ellen Haddock Miller. Their children were John, George Washington, Daniel Jr., Benjamin F., Nancy, Martha, Roxanna Josephine, William, Elmer, Albert, Fanny, Alfred L., Edwin "Edward". I believe they lived in the Millersburg, Iowa area before moving to the Sergeant Bluff, Iowa area. They lived in Kansas in 1880 and later moved to the Oklahoma City area. Thank you. Thanks to some nice "PAGES" I located a copy of The family of John Page of Haverhill Mass. In it I found My wifes Grand father Bushrod Parker Page on page 61. Brick walls can sometimes be moved. Richard Homer

The truth is a combination of the two articles! According to the best source of info on this family (RCM Page's book, pp. 68-71), Governor John Page was b. at Rosewell on 17 April 1744 the son of Mann and Alice (Grymes) Page. He died 11 Oct. 1808 in Richmond and is buried in St. John's Episcopal churchyard. A tombstone of Carrara marble was placed in his memory Nov. 26, 1881 with the following inscription: Gov. John Page (coat of arms) Died Oct. 11th 1808 aged 64 Years Blessed are the dead Which die in the Lord George W. Does anyone have any information on Nathan Page, b. April 18, 1767, Danvers, MA and d. 1829 (where ?). He was the son of Revolutionary War Patriot Jeremiah Page, member of the Boston Tea Party, and Sarah Andrew. Nathan married Rebecca Jackson (where and when?), b. 1767 and d, 1846. Nathan and Rebecca had a daughter Elizabeth Page, b. 1800 (where ?) and d. 1842 probably in Rockville, IN. Elizabeth Page married John Sunderland (where and when?) and had several children according to the 1850 Indiana Census for Parke Co. One of them was Susan Green Sunderland, b. April 23, 1821 and d. April 1, 1858, who was my grandfathers grandmother. Any further information is greatly appreciated. Andy Lareau

Axelheath has been the $64,000 question for a lot of us for a long time. Beverly and all, I know this is a long shot and a very shaky connection, but my dad was named Raymond and I think it was considered a family name. I realize that the name appears in several forms in many countries as it was an occupational name, such as Taylor, Smith, Carpenter, etc., etc.; but that doesn't make people with a common (or variant version of the) name related or tie them together. I will be happy to update and rewrite history of the Page name if someone can provided an earlier reference (with sources) to the name in any other language. Hi, I'm a new subscriber of just a few days and i'm looking for more information about Melchizedek D. Page.He was born in 1803 probably in North Carolina because he married there twice. Fl.where he died in 1867.I have the names and birth dates of all of his 19 children, but would like to find out his parents names and birth and death dates. any help would be appreciated. This is my great-great grandfather Gail
In the line of George Page of Branford, CT there is an Abiel Page (b. 7 July 1707 in Branford, the son of George Page, Jr.) who m. Lydia Rose on 22 July 1744 and had an only known son, Charles Page b. 21 Ape. 1745 in Branford, CT. The "Bail" (sic, Abiel) Page who appears at age 55 in the 1850 Federal Census of Herkimer Co., NY could have the son of Charles, and named after his father. George W.
