    3. I realize that this is probably a wild goose chase, but I'm getting desperate. My husband's grandmother was Lizzie Page,1882-1917.(possibly Elizabeth ?) She died when my father -in-law was a small child. He was told that she was born in Huntsville,Alabama before moving to Texas. We know that she married in Texas in 1908, but not just when she got here. The only information we have on her is the name of a sister and two possible brothers. No parents. sister was Pattie Mae Page bro-Walter Page bro.-Sam Page. We know all three are buried in Lamar County,TX so we assume the family came from AL to TX together. I know this is not much to go on, but it is all we have . I have tried to locate a 1890 or1900 Madison County Census to try to locate the family, but have not been able to find either census. I have also written the court house a few months ago in Huntsville, but recieved no answer. Does anyone have these names floating around in their tree ? Or a hint of what do to next to find info in my Lizzie ? Appreciate any help ! MaryMagnuson Lamar County,TX [email protected]

    2. Yes, I have Pages in Indiana. Can trace back to 1763 with sources. Would be glad to share. Don't have any Hirum that I've come across, but I don't always have all the siblings for each generation, and have not traced them, ( except for one brother of my line's Nathaniel Page: David Page of Mass., Haverhill, NH and Lancaster, NH. Found a 4 generation booklet about his line which I have not examined closely yet.) Nathaniel's son, Moses, left Lancaster, NH in 1815 with his family and moved to Chautauqua Co., NY, He is in the census there of 1820 and 1830. Then his son, Michael (Micah) Bradford Page moved on to Coshocton Co., Ohio (1840 and 50 census). Michaels's third child, Moses, married in 1853 in Spencer, Owen, IN. Moses settled in Paris, Edgar, Il., but Moses' son, Josiah settled in Terre Haute. His son, Clifford, went to Martinsville, Il. Four of Clifford's children settled in Indiana, my father being one of them, so there are lots of relatives here in IN. Think there could be a connection? I can go back from Nathaniel three generations earlier to 1580, but I have not positively linked them yet: Samuel (SC and MA), his father John of MA, and then John Sr. of MA who came to Watertown, MA. from Denham, England in 1610. A link to the sign-up page is on my website - please bookmark it for future reference; in addition to links, I try to post relevant info when changes occur affecting the list - those of you who were listmembers when we moved to RootsWeb because of the Maiser server crash in May, '97, remember that was the reason I originally set up my homepage - for us to keep in touch while we figured out what we were going to do. 3. I think I've mentioned before on the maillist that there were many of that name from Sweden who settled in the midwest. e.g. My aunt Henrietta md Ray Bloomquist, whose father was Raymond Axel Blomquist. However clerks managed to spell those names as Axcel, Eccsel, etc. One of his earlier relatives was Axel Leonard Blomquist born Lsarueda, Sweden. At 11:49 AM 06/23/2000 -0700, Dolores C. 3. For what it is worth....to those of you who have Axelheath/Exolheath PAGE of Goochland Co., VA as your ancestor. I was going through some of the brochures that we've collected in our trips across this great country and found the following in a booklet about Pella, Iowa....a community founded by Dutch people in the mid-1800's. This may not have any bearing on our Axelheath/Exolheath's name, but for what it might be worth I'm sending it on. Some time ago, I reported that Axel was reported as being "Nordic"....from the book "First Names First" by Leslie Alan Dunkling, Universe Books, New York. The following is not from this book....it is from the booklet mentioned in the previous paragraph. Following are the first two paragraphs in an article in it. "Dress From the 'Land of Axel'" "One of the most unusual Dutch costumes seen during our Tulip Time Festival is that of the 'Land of Axel'. Former resident Emily Dieleman is the owner of one of the oldest and most authentic in the sea of costumes seen during the festival. Her costume was given to her by a relative in The Netherlands and dates from over a century ago. The 'Land of Axel' as it was known is in southern Zeeland. It was once an island village. The area was settled by French Huguenot refugees who were farmers and craftsmen as well as groups from neighboring villages of Walchem and Zuid-Beveland who brought Protestantism to a predominately Catholic region." NOTE by DCR: This is not to even intimate that our Axelheath/Exolheath PAGE was from this area, but I thought the above was interesting and worth sharing. Have any of the rest of you seen any references to Axel or Axelheath as a first name....the origin or whatever???? Dolores
