Am looking for Raymond PAGE b ca 1931 in Vermillion, SD. His father was Harold Egbert PAGE and his mother was Margaret (McMillan) PAGE. Harold PAGE died 1975 in Fresno, California. Raymond PAGE may have followed his father to California. Raymond's grandmother, Lillian (Collar) INLOES died in Long Beach, California, 23 Aug 1969. If anyone could find an obit for her, I would gladly pay for your assistance. Would really like to find my deceased father's half brother's son, Raymond. My gg grandmother Abigail Page was born in 1801 in Vermont as far as we know. Recently I found part of a letter my brother had written to my mother many years ago. In it he was quoting someone (don't know who as that page was missing) that Abigail would be the person buried on the Honess Farm in the clump of trees that could be seen "across the field from our house." Is anyone familiar with a place called the Honess Farm? I have no clue as to where it was. I know Abigail and her husband Dudley H. Holdredge were on the 1830 New York Census living in Chautauqua County, New York. They were married there 8 May 1820. Any information you have will help. Thanks Laurel Holder Gallegos
Scott, Please contact me off list regarding your Page family file submitted to Ancestry.com. Patrick
Hi, Warren, Sorry to be so long to answer your 16 Nov message. I don't consider myself to be an expert on the Caroline Co., VA PAGE families, but I have unearthed some information about them that might help you. I've read the Personal Property Tax Records (1783-1826), Court Orders (1732-1809), Marriage Bonds (1787-1852) and various probate records and found the following PAGE men in that county for the following years. You can judge for yourself which ones "might be" the father of the PAGE women who md. HILL men. ca. 1776-1781: John PAGE, Jr. listed as one of the "members of the younger generation who served on one of the 36 "seats on the vestries of the county" - exact dates not given, but during this time period. 1776: John PAGE, Jr. resigned as a magistrate. 1777: Deed from John PAGE & wf. Elizabeth acknowledged in Ct. on 11 Sep 1777. This is probably the John PAGE who md. Elizabeth BURWELL - he was from the Col. John PAGE of James City Co., VA line 1779: Nicholas PAGE, decedent - John PAGE, executor or administrator 1779 Tax List: John PAGE William PAGE 1779: Nicholas PAGE Estate (he prob. died before the above tax list was made) 1780: William PAGE exempted from paying taxes because he was either too old or too infirm. 1781: William PAGE decedent - James PAGE, executor or administrator 1783 Tax List: George PAGE John PAGE 1788: Delinquent Taxpayers - included George PAGE. 1789: "State of Insolvents return'd....for Revenue Tax 1789" - includes: "Wm. Page has not one acre of land tho stands charged with 143 acres which James Page is also charged with" 1800 Tax List: (takes the place of the lost 1800 VA Census) James PAGE (he prob. belongs to the Nicholas PAGE and William PAGE line Elizabeth PAGE (no males in family - she probably the widow of John PAGE of the Col. John PAGE family Joseph PAGE 1810 Census: John PAGE Joseph PAGE 1820 & 1830 Censuses: John PAGE (only one) 1840 Census: John PAGE William PAGE 1850 Census: Wm. PAGE is the only male PAGE. There are three other PAGEs under age 10 in other families. I only read the court records through 1809, so will list the PAGEs named in these records only from 1800-1809 here: (I read these personally from microfilms of the original records which were difficult to read in places) 10 Mar 1801: William PAGE's administration on the estate of James PAGE is granted. Reubin Braddus (spelled correctly), John Broadus, Giles Richeson and Chiltion White or any three of them are appointed to appraise the estate. (Ct. Order Bk. 1799-1802: 265) 9 Jun 1801: William PAGE & wf. Elizabeth agst. William Grafton & his wf. Susannah - "In Slander" - this case is found for the defendants. PAGE and Grafton are ordered to pay various witnesses for their testimony: Wits. for the PAGEs: William Jones Phabe Grover (spelled correctly) Lewis Bell & Ursula Bell Wits. for the GRAFTONs: Nancy Asher John Bell John Bates Thomas Ship Anthony Seal Vincent Surts(?) Benjamin Hall Thomas Hatlett (Ct. Order Bk. 1802-1804:507-508) 13 Apr 1803: William PAGE, admin'r of James PAGE case agst. Robert Garnett & James Anderson - "In Debt". (Ct. Order Bk. 1802- 1804: 156) 10 May 1803: Patty PAGE given Letters of Administration in the estate of William PAGE. Armistead Jerdon, James Martin, William Pitts and Richard Chapman or any three of them are appointed to appraise the estate. (Ct. Order Bk. 1802-1804: 173) 9 Nov 1803: There was supposed to be a PAGE entry on this page and on this date, but only a small portion of the page (and those preceding and after it) is left. If anyone has access to these records, would you please fill this in for us? (Ct. Order Bk. 1802-1804: 326) 9 Nov 1803: William Page, administrator of James PAGE agst. Thomas Ship obliger of Washington Jones & Thomas Ship - "In Debt". Joell Kidd came to ct. and gave security for Thomas Ship. (Ct. Order Bk. 1802-1804: 332) NOTE: I did not read the ct. books 1805-pt. of 1807. 14 Dec 1807: William PAGE, admin'r of James PAGE agst. Benjamin Redd & William Stuart - "Motion on Forthcoming Bond". Robert B. Hill states that the defendants had legal notice of this suit, but didn't come to ct. and made default. Plt. won the case. (Ct. Order Bk. 1807-1809: 4) 8 Aug 1808: William White agst. John PAGE - "In Debt" I did not read these court records past 1809. Several of the above court entries sound as if they would be of interest to you....mentioning the WHITE and HILL names. Hope they give you some clues for further research. However, it appears that there were at least two different PAGE families in Caroline Co. at these times..... 1. The family of John PAGE & his wf. Elizabeth BURWELL (of the Col. John PAGE line. 2. The family of the Nicholas PAGE, ancestry unknown by me at this time. Good luck!!! I haven't been able to figure out anything new on the Nicholas line either!!! I'm sending a copy of this to the PAGE-L of Rootsweb.com too....for other persons interested in these Caroline Co. PAGE families. Dolores in CA

George, Carolyn: Can you help me out? My ggg-grandfather was Charles L Page. According to the 1860 Minnesota Census, Winona County, Charles Page was 39 years old, farmer and born in New Hampshire. His wife is Mary Sinclair Page (born in New Hampshire). Children: George- 16, Mary A.- 14, Charles W- 12, Sarah- 8, John- 5 were also born in New Hampshire. Other children: Betsy- 3 and Andrew- 1 were born in Minnesota. And so I assume Charles was born in 1820-1821. Charles Page died in 1865 in St Charles, MN and I believe was a Quaker minister also. I think they left New Hampshire in 1854. Do you know who his parents were? Robin

Hi. Not sure I can be of much help but thought I'd see if this gives you any clues to go on. I've been tracing a Page line from Lunenburg, MA who went to Lancaster, NH in 1763-68 to become grantees in settling the town, which is just across the Connecticut River from Lunenburg, VT. My husband and I visited both towns in October of this year and found out from the Lancaster town historian, H. Faith Kent, that Nathaniel Page, Joseph Page, David Page, William Page were original grantees in 1763 of Lancaster. (Also recorded in the book, History of Lancaster NH by Rev. A.N. Somers, published in 1899 which was her source.) There is a recorded genealogy of David Page and I have been tracing Nathaniel, who is my ancestor. Nathaniel's children were 2 Nathaniels (one died infant the other at age 21) Marcy, Abner, (b 31, Mar 1740), John (b. 16 July 1741--may have been the John Page of the Lancaster grantees), Aaron (b. 13 January, 1745) , Samuel (b. 16 July 1747), Sibil, Rachel, Prudence, Reuben (b. 3 February 1753) and Caleb (b. 11 May 1756.) The fifth son of Nathaniel, Moses Page, had all his 15 children while in Lancaster, according to town clerk records, which I saw handwritten in a book in the clerk's office. Among those were Jeremiah, Moses, Priscilla, Asa, Michael Bradford (my line), Lucy, John Anderson., Hannah, Orsamus (died at 14, youngest NH soldier to die in the Rev. War) Lydia, Nathaniel, Artemas, Stephen, Thomas Peverly, and Roswell. They were all born 1777 to 1811 and would have been contemporaries of an Abigail Page, 1805 who might have been born in that area (Vt. only a stone's throw away)(I walked across the bridge--it's a small river) as would have been the children of all of Moses' brothers and all the other original Lancaster Pages descendants (Joseph, David and William). In 1815, these all these Pages seemed to have left Lancaster and most went to the Genessee River Valley in NY. John A. (Anderson) Page, settled for a time in Vermont and then went to Quebec. Michael Bradford Page was an early settler of Cherry Creek, Chautauqua Co., NY. This is the other town you mentioned in your query. His brother Orsamus was with him in this area and others may have been also. I believe his father, Moses, came to Chautauqua Co. also. I have not traced all these brothers of Moses and their lines, but it stands to reason that one of them could have been the father of Abigail whom you seek and that Abigail arrived there with the group in about 1820. There is a town historian in Cherry Creek, Chautuaqua Co., with whom I had the pleasure of visiting in October also. Her name is Joyce Chase. There is supposedly a Page family left in this small town, but couldn't stay long enough to discover if they are related. The Chautauqua county seat is Maysville, NY. I have addresses for these town historians and the County Courthouse should you need them. Let me know if I can help you further. Best of luck, Carolyn Page Strafford

I do not have a scanner, YET, but have been passed a tip I thought I'd share. MaryM QUESTION: I have my scanner hooked up to my computer but cannot get quality scans. When I use the scan button on my scanner I have no control. What's wrong ? ANSWER: Most people are not using their scanners to full capacity because they are not scanning through Photoshop. Open FILE, ACQUIRE,TWAIN, and experience the extra options and control you have without kicking the scanner!

Dear Sandra, Saw your post about John Page in Canada. Our Page line left Lancaster, NH in 1815 after being the first settlers there in 1763. These were David Page, David Page, Jr., Nathaniel Page, Moses Page(son of Nathaniel)Joseph Page, John Page. My line is from Nathaniel. When they left Lancaster some went west to the "Genessee country" of NY. My Pages went to Chautauqua Co. NY, but John Page crossed the Connecticut River at Lancaster, NH, into Lunenburg VT. The towns are almost opposite each other. According to the town historian of Lancaster, there are four Page children buried (ages 2-23) in Lunenburg, dying in 1839, 1840, 1845, and 1851. She speculated these were children of John, son of Moses above. who was a son of Nathaniel above. These children's names were Abalena, Almirra, Milo and Myrick. Then John is found in Eaton, Quebec. That is the last we know of him. In the spring of 1998 the Lancaster Historical Society had a visit from Jack Garneau of Sawyerville, Quebec, who is descended from the oldest daughter of John Page, b. 21 July, 1795 in Lancaster, NH. His seven children were (1) Lydia, b. 1822, Eaton ,Quebec and married Peter Whiteman. (Lydia's children were Horace, Marietta, Simon, and Sarah Jane.) (2) Moses b. 1827 (3) John, b. 1832, (4) Samuel b. 1834, (5) Jeremiah b. about 1834 (6) Amelia b. about 1845 and (7) Persis, b. about 1826). This information was furnished to me by the town historian of Lancaster, NH, M. Faith Kent. Sincerely, Carolyn Page Strafford

I found this record while researching land deeds in Adams Co., OH. While I don't think it's in anyway related to my Page family, I thought I'd pass the information on. Paraphrased: Adams Co., Deed book 26, p. 477 Mann Page & Richard Jones to Charles Curtis Whereas Major William Langborne late of the county of King William and Commonwealth of Virginia for his services in the Virginia line, on continental establishments during the Revolutionary War was entitled to certain lands in the Virginia military district in the state of Ohio: And whereas he departed this life intestate leaving william Langborne his ownly lawful child and heir...... and whereas the heir departed this life sometime in the month of April 1823 in the County of King william..... leaving no children, and having first made his Last Will and Testament which was proved in the County Court of King William County, 23rd day of June, 1823........ left the land divided to his ten cousins..... Warner T., Alexander G., and William Taliferro children of Dr. William Taliaferro by his wives Mary Throgmorton and Harriet Throgmorton. Ann, Harriet, Richard and Warner Jones, children of Richard Jones, by his wife Martha Throgmorton; and Isabella, Harriet, and John Dickson, children of John Dickson by his wife Sally Throgmorton. .... These ten cousins entiled to the following six surveys inthe Virginia Military District, state of Ohio. 12566 of 1324 acres, 12567 of 500 acres, 12568 of 1000 acres, 12569 of 400 acres, 12570 of 1500 acres, 12571 of 1500 acres, making 6,224 acres of land total. Jones and Warner Jones of the County of Gloucester in the State of Virginia., and Charles C. Curtis of the same county. $1200.

Here's more info concerning the probable ancestry of the two signers, William E. Page and Charles H. Page, below: Several years ago I went to the local L.D.S. Family History Library to check on Pages of Penn. and N.J. There I found a submission (AF83-033775 by Margot Elizabeth Page in 1983) of the line of Thomas Stokes Page who m. Anna Maria Liljevalch, from whom a friend of mine in Santiago, Chile, is descended. She is descended via: Charles Page; Charles Randolph Page; and, Thomas Stokes Page and his 1st wife, Helen Marie de Limur. During the California Gold Rush Thomas Stokes Page (1815-1872 in San Francisco, Calif.) sailed by ship as far as Valpariso, Chile, where he stayed for sometime to raise a family whose descendants still are in Chile! He finally got to California and died there. Thomas Stokes Page was the son of Gilbert and Atlantic (French) Page (1784-1862), a Moorestown, NJ, merchant, who was the son of a Thomas Page (1745-1828) who married in 1769 Alice Scott. Thomas was the son of a William Page of Mansfield, Burlington Co., N.J., who married a Mary [Williams ? on 17 March 1742, see I.G.I.]. The Harriet Page who married Isaac Johnson on 4 Oct. 1812 was probably Gilbert's sister. The Isaac Johnson was possibly related to the Isaac, Nathaniel and John Johnson of Massachusetts and Connecticut. Several of the family lived in Branford, CT., and intermarried with other Pages, as well as many other families. The immigrant ancestor, John Johnson, arrived in Salem, Mass., with his family with Winthrop's first fleet on June 22, 1630. Those other entries from Burlington County are also probably related. In 1793 that there was a Dr. William Page from the Township of Eveshram, County Burlington, who was enrolled as part of the Militia of New Jersey. Per the I.G.I., there was another William Page who m. Susanna Banks on 25 July 1705 in Philadelphia who was perhaps William's father. There was a will written on 26 June 1754 by John Page of Chesterfield, N.J., which was proved on 6 Sept. 1754. It mentions his wife, Sophia, and their two sons, Asa and Henry Page, both under age. The name of Asa was very common among the Pages of Connecticut and Mass.. George W. Page _____________- At 08:54 PM 10/23/2000 -0400, you wrote: >This appeared on another list. Barb Senden >From the Burlington Gazette March 14, 1863 PUBLIC MEETING A National Union League Whereas, a dangerous and unjustifiable rebellion is now organized for the purpose of destroying the nation; and whereas the work of treason is not confined to the districts which have been declared by the President to be in a state of rebellion, but is now desecrating the soil and tarnishing the fame of New Jersey; and whereas we believe it the duty of all good citizens to support, to the extent of their ability, the Government in its efforts to suppress the rebellion; to prevent sedition and to preserve the nation; and whereas many of us are not able to render such support by military service in the field, yet earnestly desire to strengthen the hands of those who have gone forth to risk their lives for our common inheritance; and whereas we cannot more effectually do this than by frequently confering together, circulating among the people important facts and documents, which too many of them now seldom or never see and by properly taking note of disloyal sympathizers with rebellion at home. THEREFORE, the undersigned Citizens of Burlington and vicinity, without regard to past party associations, and with the single view to carry out the objects above mentioned, invite their fellow citizens who approve of the formation of a National Union League in this City, to meet at the CITY HALL on MONDAY EVENING, March 16, at 7 1-2 o'clock to take the necessary steps to that end.
