    3. Carolyn: This is very interesting. I was on contact sometime ago with a lady who said there were TWO Martha Beatty's which makes sense as the Elizabeth Campbell Crooks dau.Robert & Martha (Beatty) Crooks wasn't born until 1833. What also makes all of this interesting is my attempting to find out more about the relationship of Joseph Crunkleton (my 8th grandfather) and Jacob Snively, James Roddy and James Johnston. This Summer I did a cluster search of Antrim Co., N.Ireland in the 1660 Hearth and Tax Roll and found the following families living within a 2 mile radius of each other. They were Crooks, Dunwoodies, Moorehead, Beatty and McClure. My Crooks were specifically at Ahoghill, Glagorm Estate, Antrim. This was a Dr. Alexander Colville estate and I just found out that PRONI has specific records of the tenants. My researcher in Belfast has been given the specific info. and will do a search for me in about two weeks. I am related to all of these families thru marriages in Franklin Co. Does anyone know who Elizabeth Campbell Crooks married? All I have is her birth date which is listed in my bible. Gordon Crooks ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carolyn K. 3. Gordon Sorry, have no idea who Elizabeth Campbell Crooks married. If you have a full date of birth AND know where her parents are buried you could try scanning the cemetery records to see if you can find an Elizabeth with a matching birth date. Were the family Presbyterians? There are some Presbyterian marriage records in Mercersburg and Greencastle that might be of help. [Note: Where did your Elizabeth live? Could only find one in the 1850 census of Franklin. She is in Mercersburg, but her age is given as 22. ----- Original Message ----- From: "gordon crooks" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 12:56 PM Subject: Re: [PAFRANKL] Campbell, Beatty & Johnston > Carolyn: This is very interesting. 3. Carolyn: No this is not her, but you hit on something I have been trying to trace out. John Crooks who was the 3rd son of Robert Crooks and Rebecca Moorehead Crooks, he lived in Mercersburg and is buried in the old Seceder Cemetery there, BUT there is a conflicr here my bible says he left a wife and 3 sons living when he died at age 36 on Nov. 4, 1838. Unless his widow was pregant. I have yet to find any trace of them in Mercersburg. In answer to your question yes they were originally Presbyterian Convenanters, however James Crooks was a founder and trustee of the Associate Reformed Church in Greencastle, his son Robert was also a member of this church and the later merger with the present day Greencastle Presbyterian Church. Your other question as to where Elizabeth lived. The original settler farms in Prices Church Road, Washington Twp.(Waynesboro) remained in the family until 1865 when Robert and his brother William Sold them to Henry C. Price. There are several references to Robert being in Greencastle, the Church & Karl's drugstore to name a few so he might have actually lived in Greencastle at one time or another.
