Thanks for the interesting information about the group of Mormons who lived in Franklin County. I think some people misunderstood when I said "the first" Mormon Church. I sure didn't mean the first one ever built. I was referring to some mentions of the Rock's home being used as one of the first "gathering" places for those who were converted in that area. Some of these "saints" travelled with handcart companies that journeyed to Utah, where some of my ancestors settled along with the Robinsons/Robisons. I have photographs/articles that mention the Rocks and the Mormon Elders.Fascinating history. What I'm really trying to ascertain is where Emauel Rock and then later his son Alexander lived and whether the house is still standing. Here was one very brief mention: 10 June 1895 The Morning News Hagerstown, MD Mormon Elders are stationed at Emanuel Rock's, Tomstown, Pa. -------------------------- According to my findings, Emanuel was the First Branch President of the Rock's Spring Branch of the Mormon Church and as of 1940, Alexander was the odest living member of the Fairview branch of the Mormon Church. Alexander's son, Alexander was married to Addie Rhoda Monn. Again, thanks for your response! I'm interested in trading information with anyone about the Rock family. I've been working on the Franklin, Bedford, Lancaster and Berks Rocks for years. Still trying to sort them out. Barb
