Hi John - Yes, we did have contact about a year ago and I did take a group of school children to Gettysburg. I was captive on the bus, only a short drive away, and no ability to pay a visit! I was recently in Salt Lake City to do some research. Despite looking at many films, I'm still stuck with these folks. I had hoped that I'd find some additional records on the "other" George GIPE who shows up in the 1840 census in Springfield, York, PA, but no such luck. Given that my George GIPE was 14 years older than his wife Elizabeth, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that he may have been previously married. There is another GIPE that shows up in a neighboring county in Illinois around the same time that my folks show up there. I'm not sure if there is a connection with this Samuel GIPE (ca 1835, PA), wife Sarah, and children John Wesley and Emma. My George GIPE also had a son named Samuel, born Dec. 1863.
