To anyone that can assist in direction for solving my brickwall, I would greatly appreciate the help. I live in Florida and am unable to travel to Pennsylvania--though I did have the opportunity to travel there once a few years back... I'm looking for the parents of my gggg grandfather Johannes Gruber and when and where this family came into America. I have extensive data and information on both Johannes and Peter's descendent's and am looking for their ancestors. THANKING YOU ALL IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN PROVIDE! SINCERELY, KATHY 1. UNKNOWN1 He married UNKNOWN. Children of UNKNOWN and UNKNOWN are: 2. i. HENRICH2 GRUBER, ** 3. ii. JOHANNES GRUBER, born about 1772; died 1803, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. 4. iii. PETER GRUBER, born about 1776; died about March 1819, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. ** I'm not sure if Henrich is actually John and Peter's brother or possibly father. I just listed there because he does show up in the church records with them. Will indicates that John and Peter were brothers. Henrich may have been uncle or cousin. Notes for HENRICH GRUBER: Note 1: This Henry according to Salem Evangelical Church records, for Pleasant Hall, Pennsylvania, gave 3 pounds and 10 shillings for the purchase of property for a church, school, and cemetery there. Note 2: From the M. A. Gruber research at the Berks County Historical Society, Reading, Pennsylvania --- Miscellaneous Gruber's (Franklin, Juniata, and Perry Counties)- (1) Henry Gruber (also Gruver). In the census of 1790, there is also shown a Henery Gruver as of Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the family apparently consisting of himself, wife, 3 sons of 16 years and upward, 1 son under 16 years and 2 daughters. He is very likely the Henry Gruber in connection with those estate letters of administration, which were granted on March 15, 1819 at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Susanna Gruber and Benjamin Gruber. The estate appears to have been of considerable value, but the names of the heirs were not ascertained at the time research was made. He may possibly be the father of Peter Gruber (Gruver), the head of the Peter Gruber (Gruver) line described in (o) above. The question is raised as to whether there may not be some close relation between this Henry Gruber (or Gruver) and Henry Gruber (born in 1747), youngest son of the immigrant Henry Gruber of the Berks County branch, or Henry Gruber, of the head of the Henry Gruber (Gruver) of the Lancaster County branch. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do have one indirect descendent buried on the Letter Kenney Depot property. 6. JACOB3 GRUBER (PETER2, UNKNOWN1)8 was born March 06, 1802 in Guilford Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania9, and died 1848 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He married HANNAH KIEFFER10 November 15, 1827, daughter of ISAAC KIEFFER and EPHIA UNKNOWN. She was born January 15, 1808 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania11, and died September 17, 1875 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania12. Notes for JACOB GRUBER: Jacob Gruber, Hanna Keefer was of Hamilton, Franklin County, Pennsylvania and associated with the German Reformed Church of Chambersburg. More about JACOB GRUBER: Burial: 1848, Upper Strasburg, Carper Church, Keefer Cemetery on the Letter Kenney Army Depot, Franklin County, Pennsylvania Occupation: 1828, Wagon Maker ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Dawson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 15, 2006 9:44 PM Subject: Re: [PAFRANKL] Question Re: Franklin Co.
