Hi Nance: Well I did my best to find them but no luck. I don't have them in my database and I read through the Maclays of Lurgan book and couldn't find them mentioned either. I looked through the Carrol co illinois book and the closest I could come was for Mackay, W. J. but his line was from Scotland and no mention of anything close to Seavolt or Pa. I will keep you in mind as I hunt as that Seavolt name I don't think I will forget. I am descended from John Maclay of the mountain that married Elizabeth Culbertson daughter of Samuel Culbertson who was the son of Alexander Culbertson that was killed by the indians at Sidling Hill when his militia met up with the indians that had attacked Fort McCord. I know very little about my John Maclay. I descend from their daughter Eleanor Culbertson that married William McCune. I also don't know much about William McCune either. My Culbertsons were members of the Rocky Spring Church and my Maclays i believe were members of the Middle Spring Churc h. So many and all named the same is so hard to figure out. There were two brothers Charles and John Maclay that came to Pa from Ireland. Charles Maclay's line there is a lot on but my line is John and not as much on his descendents. At least I have not found much. Dear Gail Thanks for your effort. I have spent all day tracking all the McClay/Maclay names of Franklin Co, PA. I do not find where my William fit in but I suspect that he does. It seems that all in that area were related from the John and Charles you mentioned. I also found a website on the history of Franklin Co and it seems that because of the politics of Britian that protestant Scots were sent to Ireland. Then from later strife they left Ireland for PA. This seems to fit the Maclay of Franklin Co and possibly my great grandfather who looked more Scottish then Irish. I still have not found how the 1850 household of Ruhannah Barnhart with William, Mary and Joseph McClay fit with the McClays of Franklin Co. I suspect that Ruhannah could have been an older sister of the McClays, married and widowed but still no facts to support this. Yet, it is really the only William McClay in Pa that seems to fit my ancestor. Since Ann Seavolt was living in Montgomery Co in 1850 also and William and Ann were married by 1854 it would make sense.
