Hi Eileen, You might want to look at the Family Hart database of Dutch names: http://midatlantic.rootsweb.ancestry.com/database/surnames.htm You can see any known variants. Also try looking at variations of Allman without Van in front. Of course, when reading census records consider all possible variants you can think of. Not only did census takers make mistakes but so have the transcribers. [Alman, Aleman, Allmen, Almond, Almon, Almen, Von Allman, etc.] Tink At 07:49 PM 9/1/09, Eileen VanAllman wrote: >I think the spelling of the surname I am searching was probably changed. >Does anyone have a clue what VAN ALLMAN could have been back in the >mother country? >Eileen > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >PAFRANKL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without >the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
