    3. Hi Folks Know that many of you have read with interest (I know I have) the info available from the Archives on these WW I Draft Cards -- the following email is from Clare, list admin for PAALLEGH and is forwarded with her permission --- please read --- the cost is NOT 50 cents but $10.00 per draft card. Thanks Barbara PAFRANKL listowner baha@bitxbit.net __________________________________________________________ FROM --- Clare Peden Midgley SUBJECT: WWI Draft Cards I want to clear up a misunderstanding about the WWI Draft info. The cost is currently $10.00. The letter stating that they were 50 cents was a HOAX due to a dispute that is taking place at the Atlanta branch. Please do not send this small amount to Atlanta. They are going to be inundated and it will only serve to further strain relations between genealogists and the Archives. I was a long-time National Archives' volunteer and I can tell you with 100% certainty that they are under NO obligation to serve genealogists in any capacity. We are there only because each Archives' Branch Director allows it. He or she can effectively shut the place down to genealogists by changing the hours and making restrictions such as "only 2 patrons in the reading room at a time" and other things that are completely at the discretion of the individual Director. Genealogists need to be mindful of this and be extremely careful to make nice to the Archives staff.
