I am researching the family of my g-g-g-g-g-g-grandparents, John McCLELLAND and Catherine BUCHANAN. According to a history of the Juniata Valley, John McCLELLAND settled in present-day Milford Twp, Juniata County in 1755. He was originally from Franklin County. The history continued to say that many of his family remained in Franklin. John's wife was Catherine BUCHANAN, who was a widow. Her first husband was a HOUSTON, by whom she had two daughters, Jane (ELLIOTT) and Sarah (DOUGLASS). John and Catherine had Joseph, Daniel, John Jr., Nancy and Catherine. Some of these children, if not all of them, were born in Franklin County. Catherine BUCHANAN iswas the sister of President Buchanan's father, according to both the history of Juniata and a Buchanan researcher.
