    1. [PAFRANKL] More on Israel Rupp

    3. Personal to Carolyn: Thanks for your note, and get that book up off the floor! Find something else on which your dog can rest his head (actually, he must be a pretty well-trained dog. Mine would have had it out in the backyard in shreds by now). Also thanks for the helpful suggestions. I think I need to clarify--I hadn't realized that Rupp had written so many books, almost all of them about our favorite general area of Pennsylvania. The $1,250 opus was his "Early History of Western Pennsylvania," published in 1846. The book I was thinking of in particular was "The History and Topography of Dauphin, Franklin, Bedford, Adams, and Perry Counties," which no one seems to have (i've checked five used book websites and the National Genealogical Society, so far). And the hunt will go on. And I can't believe I didn't make the connection between Israel D. and the Rupp/Rupe inquiry I was trying to be helpful with. One of Rupp's publications was "A brief biographical memorial of Joh. Jonas Rupp, and complete genealogical register of his lineal descendants, from 1756-1875" (1875). No one seems to have that, either, but I'll keep an eye peeled for it. Judy Hall
