Hello This is my first message to this list. I have a Col. Samuel Culbertson who was the eldest son of Irish Alexander Culbertson of "Culbertson Row, Pa. Samuel's second wife was Elizabeth McClay of Lurgan Twp., daughter of Hon. John McClay, Feb. 4, 1777, at Rocky Spring Church. She was born in 1755 and died June 4, 1817. They had a daughter Eleanor, born Aug. 9 , 179--; died Jan. 19, 1852. Eleanor CULBERTSON married William McCWEN/McCUNE of Franklin Co. Pa. sometime before 1813 in Franklin Co. Pa. In 1833 they moved to near Columbus, Ohio, and in 1836, moved to Lacon, Marshall Co., Illinois. Would anyone on the list have any information on my McCwen/McCune line that might be of help to me as I know absolutely nothing other than his name. I know that he was killed in a stagecoach accident in Lacon, Marshall, Co., Illinois and died shortly afterward July 14, 1837. Does anyone know who his parents were, etc. One of her sisters Amelia CULBERTSON married John THOMPSON of Franklin Co., Pa in 1811 and moved to Blue Rock Tp., Muskingum Co., Ohio, in 1825.
