The status of my search for the family of John Beever: John BEEVER's War of 1812 pension application (made from Wilson County, KS) said that he was born in Franklin County, PA and that he was a saddler aged 19 in 1813. In the 1820 census of Franklin County there were four entries for John BEAVER: males to 10 10-16 16-18 16-26 26-45 45 up Washington Township: 2 0 1 0 1 0 2 Agriculture Washington Township 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 Manufacture Peters Township 1 1 0 0 0 1 1 Agriculture (difficult to read) Antrim Township 1 0 0 1 0 0 1 Manufacture In 1830 John stated he was in Licking County. In 1830 Franklin Co., PA census I found the John BEAVERs in Washington Township and the John BEAVER in Peters Township - there were no BEAVER entries for Antrim. In Licking County, OH Bennington Township I found a John BEAVER with males 1 (to 5) 1 (5-10) 1 (10-15) 1(30-40). The family group sheet I have developed has: John Beaver born ca 1794 (based on pension application - but 62 in 1850 and 70 in 1860 and 85 in 1878) died 1878 Elizabeth (first or ? wife) born ca 1793 (57 in 1850) alive in 1852 Catherine (second or last wife) born ca 1817 married by 1860 died 1889 children: David born 8 Oct 1818 PA (family Bible) married 1839 Bureau County, IL to Sylvia WILLIAMS died 1892 California Ignatius born ca 1820 PA married 1844 Bureau County, IL to Elizabeth R CROSS (born PA ca 1824) - not found after 1850 John born ca 1827 OH married to Emily (possible child only - based on finding in Jackson Co IA in 1860) Anthony born ca 1832 OH - disabled - not found after 1860 I have found CROSS families in Franklin County (Abraham, Benjamin, and James) and in Bureau County (Charles, Cornelius C, Christopher G, Lorenzo D, and David). Ignatius and Elizabeth had four sons: Moses, Benjamin, Samuel, and James. John may have been the John BEAVER who purchased land in Whiteside Co., IL in 1853 - but if so he purchased it for a Jerome W Hollenbech. In the 1800 and 1810 Franklin Co. PA census, candidates for John's father are George BEAVER of Hamilton Township and Jacob Beaver of Washington Township who both had males to 10 in 1800. There were also a Nicholas, Philip, and John. There is information in the DAR about George, Jacob, John, and Nicolas but no obvious connections. There is also no entry without a conflicting death in the Ancestral File. I have a trip to Salt Lake City scheduled for November - does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any hints? Any corrections or conflicts? Sue Eichenbaum San Jose, California
