There were two John Bosserts (Buzzard, Bosert, Boshard, et al) in Dauphin County before 1790, both with wives named Catherine. 1. The older one (my line) was born about 1740, married Cathrine LaRue, (born 1740 Tulpehocken, daughter of Jonas LaRue and Catherine Barbara Zeller) about 1763. This John died 1803 Hamilton Twp, Franklin County. Children in the will: Jacob, Henry, Catherine wife of Henry Trout, Margaret wife of John Bonnett, Mary wife of Dewald Kieffer, Esther, Elizabeth wife of Jacob Shearer, Rebecca, John and Magdalena. Catherine was born 1765 Middletown (now Dauphin) and Margaret 1767 same place. John was born 1773 Emanuel Lutheran Elizabeth Twp, Lancaster County. The younger children were born in Franklin. Family records show that Catherine married Henry Trout 8 Jun 1782 and that John Jr, born 1773, married Margaret Kinneard/Kincade. In 1796 John Bossert of Franklin County and wife Catherine daughter of Jonas LaRue sold land in Dauphin. (Deed Bk K-1, p94.) 2. From Dauphin County church records: "Catharina Elisabeth of Hannes Bosert and Catharina, b. Nov 20, 1775, bpt. Jul 2, 1776. Spon: Wilhelm Reuter and wife. Dauphin County, Lykens Valley, Lower Church, Upper Paxtang Twp. From the same records: Catherine Elisabeth Huber, daughter of Johannes and Catherine Magdalena Bosshart, born 26 Nov 1776 Upper Paxtang, Lutheran, married 1800 Jacob Huber, died 6 Feb 1827, buried HoffmanÂ’s. This record combined with the will of John Bossert 1803 Franklin proves that there were two John Bosserts with wives named Catherine (and daughters named Catherine). Who is the second John Bossert and is he related to the John who died 1803 Franklin?
