I have limited information regarding one Arthur SHIELDS who married one Jane THOMSON, b. 28 Sep 1776, Cumberland/Franklin Co., PA. Jane was a younger sister of James THOMSON, my 2nd Gr-grf. She is the dau. of Alexander THOMSON, b. 1722, near Crookston Castle, Glasgow, Scotland and Elizabeth EDMONSTONE, b. 1728, Scotland. This couple came to America in 1771, settling in Cumberland/Franklin Co., PA near Chambersburg in 1772. This THOMSON family was quite large, with descendants moving west into Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington and Westmoreland counties in the late 1700's to early 1800's. Would like to learn more about your SHIELDS line, and a possible connection.
