This is what I sent to the addresses listed: "Dear sir: The current trend among many more advanced states is to make as many public records as possible open to the public. I am very distressed to read that Iowa is considering closing its records to the public! I understand that, for a fee, you will look things up for people, and for $8 (!!!) you will provide copies. Pardon me while I retch. This is absolutely obscene. I realize the inconvenience of having the public browsing through your records... however, you all are there to provide service to the public, not to improve your personal convenience.
