Just a quick note while the Franklin County census is the topic. The 1790 Franklin is full of errors, so don't despair if you do not find your ancestor listed. The first section (Fannet, Hamilton, Letterkenny, Montgomery and Peters) has many transcription errors, not all due to poor spelling by the census taker. For example, my Samuel WALKER is listed on page 113 (first column) is listed correctly, but his brother Robert who lived next door is listed as Robert WALTERS. Thomas HERRON is listed as Thomas HEVRAN etc. Copies of the handwritten census are difficult to find, but they are available. National Archives has the printed copy on microfilm as their regular 'handout' if you are reading in Room 400, Washington, but it is possible to get them to give you a filmed copy of the handwritten original. I have not tried to order the original from Salt Lake. perhaps someone has and can share their information. Carolyn
