Here's a curve ball. I am hunting for a Edward Carl. He was my grandfather. I know that he spent some time in Greencastle but his children settled in Chambersburg. I heard stories about him being something in law enforcement briefly but I can't find any documentation on that. He was career military but no birth place or birth parents are listed anywhere.
