    3. I am trying to find other people researching the John A. Jones, Sr. line. He was born in England and then lived and died in Franklin Co., PA. His wife was Elizabeth "Unknown" I have seen her name as Somerset but have nothing to substantiate that. He was very prolific and has descendants spread out all over. JOHN A.JONES, SR. (JOHN9, ROBERT8, HENRY7, EDWARD6, WALTER5, JOHN4, JOHN3, JOHN2, ROBERT AP1 MADOC) was born December 24, 1729 in Worcestershire, England, and died July 24, 1840. He married ELIZABETH UNKNOWN. She died January 31, 1843. Notes for JOHN A. JONES, SR.: Census of Pensioners Act, 1840 In 1799, John Joans of Metal township was taxed on 213 acres of land, 70 acres being improved; he had one cabin, 2 horses and 4 cows. Repository and Whig Thursday, July 2, 1840. "Died at his residence in Metal township in this county on Wednesday, the 24th untimo Mr. John Jones, Sr. aged 110 years and 6 months. He was born on the 24th of December, 1729. The place of his nativity was Worcestershire, England but he resided in the city of London for many years from which place he was impressed on a British man-of-war that was aiding in the blockade on the American coast during the war of the revolution from which he made his escape and enetered the American Army fighting in the Company of Captain Alexander. He was subsequently taken prisoner by the British but not being recognized was exchanged and again entered the service where he remained until honorably discharged. He resided fifty-seven years on the property when he came to this country and left a widow now 85 years of age, 10 children, 100 grandchildren and about the same number of greatgrandchildren. All these children lived to adulthood. I am not sure if there were others. Children of JOHN JONES and ELIZABETH UNKNOWN are: i. SAMUEL11 JONES, b. April 18, 1792; d. 3. I do not have access to the 1840 census, but the Jacob Tanner of the 1850 Franklin, Guilford Twp,(pg 117) is 45, wife Susan 41, children Rebecca 17, John 14, Jacob 12, Samuel 7, William 4, all in household born PA. In 1850 Fulton, there is a Jacob Tanner age 10 born PA in the household of FannyHess, age 58, pg 41, Ayr Twp. These are the only two Jacob Tanners in the 1850 PA index. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DJS2084@aol.com> To: <PAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2001 10:11 AM Subject: [PAFRANKL] JACOB TANNER > Could SKS with access to 1840 and/or 1850 fed census look up a JACOB TANNER, > wife CHARITY. 1840 census has him in Letterkenny Twp - 1850 census Guilford > Twp.
