Philipp REGES(my 4th great grandfather) was a Hessian soldier, a member of the auxilliary troops used by the British in the Revolutionary War. He was among those surrendered at Saratoga by Burgoyne, and deserted in or near York PA in 1778. He married near York, and lived there until 1795, when he and his family moved to Chambersburg in 1795, and he worked as a weaver and dyer of cloth there until he died in 1812. Does any one on the list have any information on weavers working in Chambersburg during that period, or any historical info dealing with life in the town in those times? I'm trying to get a mental picture of what life was like. I have the Warner, Beers "History of Franklin County", and have been to Kittochtinny Historical Society a few times, so I do have some idea. I'm just looking for a little more detail about the life of a weaver and his family. -- Bill Hawk
