    3. I shall try to respond to your suggestions. At 03:16 PM 1/9/01 -0500, you wrote: >To try to answer some of your questions - >1. I am in the process of obtaining CDs from a genealogy service. they cover both Huguenots and United Empire Loyalists. This will be where I start the process for the Laurence/Gordon family. I believe the records you mention above are included in these CDs. >2. You ask about the full dates of birth at LDS. They may have come from >many sources: a Bible record, tombstones, death certificares, even a >pension record or land record such as the one above. Yes. I thought Bible records might be a possibility. I have contacted a submitter of this information. This person is recorded as living in Ecuador. The tombstones in Bookton Cemetery, Windham Township, Ontario, CANADA, have been a source for William Laurence and Elmira Laurence. They, also, give information for William Francis Lawrence, William's son. I am currently checking to determining which Sarah Gordon is the spouse of William Laurence. There are many, and they are in different cemeteries. She does not appear to be at Bookton Cemetery. However, they first started in Upper CANADA at Otterville. There may be a cemetery there that contains her remains. They were Methodists, so I must check Methodist cemeteries. She could have been Presbyterian, since here name is of Scottish origin. I may have to check that later. The pension records of those who fought for the British may contain something for William Laurence. Again, I shall check the CDs, when they arrive. >3. Their mailing address is (175 East King Street, >Chambersburg, Pennsylvania 17201) is available on their website. Do their records cover Shady Grove, Antrim Township? If you do not know, ten I shall have to ask them. They have early land warrants. Did everyone own property in Shady Grove? I am asking on the chance that you will know something. >4. The list of records available at the PA State Archives that I gave in a >previous message are from the Archives site. I gave it at the end of the >list. To repeat: >http://www.state.pa.us/PA_Exec/Historical_Museum/DAM/rg/rg47m.htm OK. I missed that one. Thanks. I hope they have a searchable database. >6. I don't know why the sisters are not buried with the rest of the family. >Were they married? If so they are probably buried with their husband's >families. I do not know. I am curious about how to search for them. I believe Elmira may have died soon after arrival to Upper CANADA. I believe her mother may, also, have died at the childbirth of William Francis Lawrence. The abrupt trip by covered wagon from Shady Grove may have been too much for them. I really appreciate all you great help. Most sincerely, Howard
