    1. [PAFRANKL-L] Mc Donel Farm in Franklin County, Peters Township
    2. I am looking for my great-grandfather, John Mowery/Mowrey/Mowry, born in Franklin County, Peters Township. From a letter written by his granddaughter about 1871, she states he was born in a log cabin on the Thomas McDonel? farm halfway between Bridgeport & Camels Town? . Does anyone have access to a plat map about 1814, the year he was born? Having a hard time finding him in Franklin County. He also supposedly married Marey Cromer 3/10/1836 in Mercersburg, if this helps. Does anyone know of a Lutheran church probably located around Mercersburg at this time? Thank you for your help, Marilyn Indiana

    1. [PAFRANKL-L] Young Family Name, Western PA
    2. larry young
    3. Youns, I thank all of you that replied to my mail seeking those researching the "Young" family name. Some asked me to narrow Western PA down to a county or two and give more specifics. That I will. My Youngs are from Northern Ireland, came to America, and settled in Maryland. Some lived in Lurgan Township, Franklin County, PA in 1753. Some moved to Mercer County, PA about 1800 and they were Presbyterians. I believe most were in Lawrence County before and after it was formed. Here is my linage: 6GF: William Young and Mary White are the first Youngs mentioned. Two of their children, William and John married two daughters of David and Margery, Mary and Elizabeth, respectively. Some of their other children are; Elizabeth, Margaret, Gilsey, and Hannah. 5GF: William (Capt) Young Mary Elder B: xx xxx 1743 B: 21 Aug 1757 M: xx xxx 1777 D: 27 Dec 1820 D: 05 Aug 1836 Buried: Neshannock Cemetery Children: John E., David, Mary, James, Margaret, Jane, Elizabeth, William 4GF: John E. I lost the newspaper clippings I had on what townships where some were born and died. Hopefully, I can replace them. This is fun trying to research the right lineage as there are several lines of Youngs in the New Castle, PA. If any of this sounds close, please reply, and we can go from there, or I can forward your mail to a lady in New Castle researching other Youngs. Thanks again for your replies and your interest. Larry P.S. No, I'm not from Pittsburg, but born and raised in New Castle. _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [PAFRANKL-L] Bino??
    2. Sheila Davis
    3. Hi. This is my first post. I hope all comes through OK. I'm researching my SHAFFNER line in Franklin County. They lived in the Welsh Run and Upton area and some are buried in the Montgomery Brethren Cemetery. I'm passing along two obituaries from the family files in the hope that someone will recognize one of the names from their own research. If so, please write! Also, has anyone researched in Bino, Pa.?? Thanks much. (From the "Evangelical Visitor," Feb. 6, 1911, page 16) OBITUARIES MYERS - Elizabeth Myers SHAFFNER was born August 25, 1832, and died December 5, 1910. The deceased was a member of the Brethren in Christ church for a number of years. She was a woman of noble character and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. For some time previous to her death she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Chas. STOKES. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Peter MYERS, Mason and Dixon, Pa.; Mrs. Geo. PENSINGER, Riverside, N.J.; Mrs. David HOCKERSMITH, Five Forks, Pa.: Mrs. Chas. STOKES, Greencastle, Pa.; Mrs. John DUBBOHN, Greencastle, Pa.; and Samuel of Bino, Pa. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. B.F. HOFFMAN of Greencastle, Pa. Funeral services and interment at Montgomery Church, December 7, conductedby the brethren H.C. SHANK, Jacob and Ambrose MYERS. MYERS - Lydia MYERS, wife of Henry MYERS, was born January 29, 1847, and died November 14, 1910, aged 63 years, 9 months and 13 days. She was taken ill with typhoid fever a few months prior to her death. She was a woman of kind disposition among her friends and neighbors. She felt the need of a Savior and a higher standard of living for years, but did not yield fully till a few weeks before she passed over, when she fully expressed her desire to do the will of the Lord, and hoped that Jesus would be with her. She was received into the church two weeks before she passed over, expressing her desire to be baptized if the Lord would raise her up. She was the mother of a large family; the majority died in their infancy. She is survived by her husband, Henry MYERS, and these children: Emmert, Harry, Jesse and Mrs. George DAELY, also one sister, Mrs. B.F. HOFFMAN. Services and interment at the Montgomery M.H., South Franklin, Pa.

    3. Does anyone know of a Swedish settlement in Franklin County, PA around 1830 or before. My great great grandfather John Nicklas Eberhart was born in 1829 in PA, and many members of the family think in Franklin County. On the 1880 Federal Census for Comanche County, TX it asks where the parents were from. After John N. Eberhart's name is written "Sweden" for both his Mom and Dad. This was all news to all three of us researching--I am from his daughter, Martha, one is from his son, George, and another is from his youngest child, Rosa. 1. [PAFRANKL-L] REIGLE and MILLER Families
    2. Donna
    3. I am searching for information on Mary Jane REIGLE [RIEGEL, etc]. She was born about 1799 in Pennsylvania [from census info and Civil War Pension Records]. She died 26-Jan-1877 in Peru Mills, Lack Twp., Juniata Co., PA. [from Civil War Pension Records]. She was married on 24-May-1818 in Union Co., PA. [from Civil War Pension Records] to David Miller. David was born in 1797 and died of "Angina Pectoral at the age of 71 years" on 21-Feb-1868 in Juniata Co., PA. [from Civil War Pension Records]. I have never been able to find any documentation as to where these are buried??!!! Or have I ever found any documentation as to who their parents/siblings are??!!! Between the years 1850 and 1860 David and Mary Reigle Miller and their family moved from Fannet Twp., Franklin Co., PA. to Lack Twp., Juniata Co., PA.. I found two possible brothers for Mary Jane Reigle. Their names were found on a deed for ground in Lack Twp., Juniata Co., PA. owned by Joseph and Catherine Miller [d/o David and Mary Jane Reigle Miller] Richardson and sold to George and Samuel M. Reigle "of Snyder Co., PA." in 1856. I found a George Reigles age 73 yrs., farmer RE$3000 PE$1500 and born in PA. with his wife, Margaret age 63 yrs. and a son, George age 46 yrs. on the 1860 Juniata Co., PA. Census in Lack Twp., pg. 630 taken on 17-July (Post Office - Pleasant View). There was also several other Reigles listed as separate households and they are probably children of George: Jacob L. age 23 yrs. and family - and - Daniel age 30 yrs. and family. These Reigles were living in the same area as David and Mary Jane Reigle Miller. I hope someone can help me with this quest?!!! Thanks in advance... Donna

    2. Art Miller
    3. Looking for any connections to David MILLER who is reported to have been in Franklin Co., Pa. by 1779 when his first son was born (maybe Frederick). David was supposedly born 1744 in New Jersey. A grandson named Samuel was born 1819 in Franklin Co. A daughter of John Foll (maybe Susan b. 1785) married one of David's sons. I find a David Miller on Guilford Twp. tax list for 1779 but not thereafter. In LDS Ancestral File I find a David Miller b. 1744 in Rahway Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ s/o David and Sarah Miller. I am trying to determine is this David Miller could be my ggggrandfather who came to Nelson Co., Ky. about 1796 with wife Deborah Zook, d/o Peter Zug, and several of their 12 children. He probably ended up in Washington/Fayette Co., Pa. before coming to Ky. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can shed any light on this mystery. Art Miller, Lousiville

    1. [PAFRANKL-L] Familysearch.org Problems
    2. Knut Barde
    3. In using familysearch.org, understanding that they do not guarantee anything, I am struck at the many very obvious errors, even in what seem to be well researched and documented ancestral files. Exemples are: 1. Christening dates before birth dates 2. Death dates one or more centuries after the birth date; love to be 150 years old. 3. Multiple mothers or fathers for one person 4. Marriages after death 5. Births more than 9 months (often years) after death of parent 6. Births to fathers and mothers who are way beyond their prime years, possibly confusing children and grandchildren 7. Marriages of little girls to old men. While biology is not an absolute guide and freakish things happen, some of this stuff is just too improbable to pass muster. Some of these things could be caught with plain logic and math filters. When an ancestral line got one of these problems in it, the whole thing becomes suspect. Query: what does W.P. in front of a date mean? Knut
