Hello, My great-great-grandfather was William Potts Campbell born Aug 11, 1812, in Franklin Co., PA. His father was Thomas Campbell, which we know very little about. We think, in addition to William, he had children Thomas, Alexander, and James. Looking on the Franklin Co website (Great site!) I found marriage records for a Thomas Campbell and Jane Craver, April 28, 1808. Can anyone confirm that this is the Thomas Campbell that had William? I also found a biography for James Campbell who had a son Thomas. Can anyone help me fill in the gaps? Thanks in Advance, Larry Gray lgray@dragonbbs.com

Hi Judy: Thanks for the reply! Someone answered me and said that they thought it may mean "State Appropriated Burial". This sounds more logical than my idea of "State Approved Burial". The man in question was quite old when he died and was or seemed to be very poor. He was married to a girl about 30 years his junior and she had several very young children to tend to - so I presume that the State "footed" the bill for his burial - but if we only knew where he was buried??!!! Thanks Again... The person in question died at the Cumberland County Home but we have never been able to find documentation [not even in an obit.] of where he was buried - Could it mean "state approved burial"? - If there is such a thing???? Belle, Look at the quote below. Cedar Grove is the name of a cemetery in Chambersburg PA where Andrew J. MILLER was born. I saw this on the Franklin County, PA List. I wonder if that is where Andrew and Samuel's parents are. After all, Samuel's estate was named Cedar Grove in Chatham County. I'll have to find a way to check it out. Was Cedar Grove famous enough to have any "book" references to it in Savannah? Hello, My efforts over the last 25 years have been researching the DeGarmo family, and I have come across 43 different spellings of the name. Census takers, town clerks, etc. have butchered the spelling of the name. Recently I ran across a Garmoe family which I now think is related, since my GG grandfather John DeGarmo was referred to by Garmoe by a county clerk recording his marriage application. I'm wondering if anyone on this list has information about the Garmoe family who lived in Franklin County, PA up until about 1850. As far as I can tell the eldest of this Garmoe family was Isaac Garmoe, born in 1790. I would appreciate any help. Bill DeGarmo
