    1. [PAFRANKL] Issac Mull, d. abt 1863
    2. Janet Heck
    3. I am seeking information on Isaac MULL who married Mary E. (?). His will was written 8 Aug 1863 leaving everything to his wife Mary E. MULL. On 23 Sept 1863, his widow declined taking the estate left to her and took instead $300 worth of property. That makes it a pretty sure bet that he died between 8 Aug and 23 Sept, 1863. I am seeking the maiden name of his wife. She could be the same Mary E. Alexander MULL, B. near Shippensburg, PA who married John George Gift some time between 1863 and 1869. I am also trying to determine how many children she had by Isaac MULL. It would also be very helpful to know if Isaac MULL was brother to the John MULL whose will was written 29 Aug 1863. John was the father of Daniel, Elmira, Mary, Granna, Adam and Abner MULL. I would appreciate any information you may be able to share with me. I in turn will share any and all information I have. Thank you in advance for your help. Janet

    1. [PAFRANKL] DUEMLER and REIS/ZEISS
    2. Tim McGraw
    3. I previously posted a query on the RootsWeb Franklin Co., Pa. board regarding my search. I have learned some new info, and hopefully someone has info or resources that may help me in my search (sorry for the long post; perhaps you will recognize one of the surnames or locations here). My Mother's paternal grandfather was Frederick August DUEMLER, believed to be b. Greencastle, Pa., July 29, 1837 (IGI says Aug. 29; could be an error generated because that was also his name). He married Barbara Elizabeth BAKER in 1869 in St. Clair, Mo.; family records I recently uncovered indicate she was born May 29, 1847 in Habergast, Germany. This is all I have on the BAKER connection, but my mother recalls as a child attending large BAKER reunions (c. 1920s-'30s) in "Dutch Hill, Pa." The other family involved was the ABENDROTHs, who *may* have come to the reunion from Erie, Pa. There are probably 100 places in Pa. known as Dutch Hill; however, only three have ever been recognized by the P.O., and they are all in western Pa., where the reunions most likely occurred (could have been in Franklin Co., Penn.). German variations of Baker include Baecker, Baiker and Boeger. We had always believed Frederick August's parents were Dr. John C. DUEMLER and Ursula Barbara REIS of Greencastle, Penn. I have just learned from a distant relative their names may actually have been Johann Christian DUEMLER and Ursula Barbara ZEISS. Johann *may* have been b. Aug. 18 1801 in zu Schernau Bei Wurzburg, France, and Ursula *may* have been b. May 16, 1806 in Neurstadt ander Hardt, Bavaria, Germany. Oddly enough, their descendants settled in Franklin Co., Mo. I have reason to believe that Frederick August had brothers who also settled there from whom many doctors descended (many still living). My Mother (b. Ruth Helen DUEMLER) turns 80 on Oct. 23, and I would like to give her an ancestry chart showing anything I can find (shhhhh...it's a secret!). Any help would be greatly appreciated, particularly a lookup of Frederick August Duemler's birth in Greencastle, cited above, if anyone has a resource handy. Tim McGraw Berkeley, CA

    3. Hello Susan: I hope you will be able to help me with a bit of Franklin Co history or geography. I am researching Patton line and have reference to a Mary Sisler b1802 in MT Pleasant, Franklin Co who married my ancestor James Patton b1797, ? Bedford Co. I wonder if you kow if that Mt Pleasant still exists and in which township it might have been located in. I even saw one account of it being in Adams Co but by far most information place it in Franklin Co. Thanks for any help in advance. Jim O, Knoxville,TN

    1. [PAFRANKL] John BEEVER (1794-1878)
    2. Sue Ann Eichenbaum
    3. The status of my search for the family of John Beever: John BEEVER's War of 1812 pension application (made from Wilson County, KS) said that he was born in Franklin County, PA and that he was a saddler aged 19 in 1813. In the 1820 census of Franklin County there were four entries for John BEAVER: males to 10 10-16 16-18 16-26 26-45 45 up Washington Township: 2 0 1 0 1 0 2 Agriculture Washington Township 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 Manufacture Peters Township 1 1 0 0 0 1 1 Agriculture (difficult to read) Antrim Township 1 0 0 1 0 0 1 Manufacture In 1830 John stated he was in Licking County. In 1830 Franklin Co., PA census I found the John BEAVERs in Washington Township and the John BEAVER in Peters Township - there were no BEAVER entries for Antrim. In Licking County, OH Bennington Township I found a John BEAVER with males 1 (to 5) 1 (5-10) 1 (10-15) 1(30-40). The family group sheet I have developed has: John Beaver born ca 1794 (based on pension application - but 62 in 1850 and 70 in 1860 and 85 in 1878) died 1878 Elizabeth (first or ? wife) born ca 1793 (57 in 1850) alive in 1852 Catherine (second or last wife) born ca 1817 married by 1860 died 1889 children: David born 8 Oct 1818 PA (family Bible) married 1839 Bureau County, IL to Sylvia WILLIAMS died 1892 California Ignatius born ca 1820 PA married 1844 Bureau County, IL to Elizabeth R CROSS (born PA ca 1824) - not found after 1850 John born ca 1827 OH married to Emily (possible child only - based on finding in Jackson Co IA in 1860) Anthony born ca 1832 OH - disabled - not found after 1860 I have found CROSS families in Franklin County (Abraham, Benjamin, and James) and in Bureau County (Charles, Cornelius C, Christopher G, Lorenzo D, and David). Ignatius and Elizabeth had four sons: Moses, Benjamin, Samuel, and James. John may have been the John BEAVER who purchased land in Whiteside Co., IL in 1853 - but if so he purchased it for a Jerome W Hollenbech. In the 1800 and 1810 Franklin Co. PA census, candidates for John's father are George BEAVER of Hamilton Township and Jacob Beaver of Washington Township who both had males to 10 in 1800. There were also a Nicholas, Philip, and John. There is information in the DAR about George, Jacob, John, and Nicolas but no obvious connections. There is also no entry without a conflicting death in the Ancestral File. I have a trip to Salt Lake City scheduled for November - does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any hints? Any corrections or conflicts? Sue Eichenbaum San Jose, California

    1. [PAFRANKL] Formation of Gift Family Association
    2. Janet Heck
    3. There is currently in the planning stages the formation of a GIFT Family Association for the descendants of Mathias GIFT. We know there are quite a number of descendants still in the Franklin County area and a great many more who have spread out all over this grand country. So if anyone knows of a person who is a descendant of Mathias Gift who settled in the Grindstone Hill and Guilford Twp area of Franklin County, please ask them to contact me. We are now at the stage where we have sent out a questionnaire to determine when the best time for our first family reunion should be held and what the descendants of "Old Mathias" would like to see happen at such a gathering. If anyone is interested they can get a questionnaire from me and return it by Nov. 15 so we can go through them and determine what out next move will be. Janet

    1. [PAFRANKL] MORROW, STARK, GLENN, KENNEDY
    2. Stan Cornelius
    3. Hi It has been a few months since I have posted to this list. Hoping there are new members that may have some information. I am descended from the marriage of Michael MORROW (son of Richard MORROW and Agnes?) to Elizabeth STARK(dau of Isaac STARK and Elizabeth TROUSEDALE, nee GLENN), md 1818 in Fannet Towship, Franklin co PA. I am seeking any information available on MORROW, STARK, and GLENN from this marriage. Their dau Sarah Jane MORROW, b 1822, Dry Run, Fannet Township, md John KENNEDY, b 1802 in Dublin Township, Huntingdon co PA. A bio on John's son done in the late 1800's says that John was the son of Gilbert KENNEDY who came to America with his parents from Ireland (Scotch-Irish) when he was about 7 years old. It states that the KENNEDY family originally settled in Franklin co and that Gilbert's father John served in the Rev War. I notice that Fannet Township is very close to Dublin Township in Huntingdon co. So, I am also seeking any information that may be available on this KENNEDY family who apparently came to the area of Franklin co sometime just before 1770. Thank you so much for any help. Stan

    1. [PAFRANKL] Shippensburg Info!
    2. Janet Heck
    3. Me again. I am interested in finding any and all information on one Mary E. Alexander b. about 1832 in Shippensburg. She first married Isaac Mull and next married John George Gift. She had one child, Elizabeth, to Isaac Mull . Elizabeth married a John McNew and they lived for some time in or near Fayetteville. According to her obituary in 1903, she had brothers William, Upton and John and a sister Kate who married a Burns and moved to Ohio. I need her parents names, marriage records for both marriages, and any thing else that is available. Would love to correspond with any of her descendants who may be around. Janet

    1. [PAFRANKL] Lutheran & Reformed Churches Franklin County
    2. Does anyone know where I could obtain church records for the period 1800-1850 in the Franklin County area? Probably be in the Mercersburg, St. Thomas, Chambersburg areas. Also, does anyone know of the Jordan farm located outside of Mercersburg? It shows on an old map of the area. The George Cromer family lived there during this period. Supposedly in the late 1800's someone pulled the wallpaper off one of the upstairs bedrooms and found a long list of Cromer names. Would love to find more info on this list of names. I am also looking for the Thomas McDonel or McDowel farm between St. Thomas & Markes. Someone said there is an elderly lady still living there at Geib' s Point Road. My Mowreys supposedly lived there during this period. Thank you for your help. Marilyn Indiana

    2. Carolyn K. Shearer
    3. I have found wills in Franklin County beginning from the formation of the county about 1780. They were abstracted in a rough form (messy typescript pages) many years ago. Copies are available at Kittochtinny Historical Society, Coyle Free Library in Chambersburg, NSDAR library in Washington DC and other places. These abstracts have also been filmed by LDS and should be available to rent at your local Family History Center. While many records were destroyed by Gen Lee and his men, it is still worth checking to see what remains. -----Original Message----- From: Curt Sanders <csanders@paonline.com> To: PAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com <PAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, September 07, 1999 9:49 PM Subject: Re: [PAFRANKL] Record of Wills > >RogerCubs@aol.com wrote: >> >> I am looking for any publication of Wills or Administration Records covering >> deaths occurring in Franklin County, PA during the 1800's. >> >> In particular, I'm searching for the Will or Adm.
