    3. Hi Everyone! I thought I'd let you know of a fairly new site that you can post information to and search the information that is currently on this site. I'm sending the address for the Cumberland County page, since it seems like if you're doing research in a neighboring county it might be helpful. Also, there is a cumberland county mailing list associated (if interested). It is also fairly new and has not been to active, but I think that there are a few different people associated with it. Just thought you might want to check it out! Amy http://www.genexchange.com/pa/cumberland/index.cfm

    1. [PAFRANKL] Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysbury
    2. Laura A Hine
    3. Hi all: I have a question that was brought to mind by the posting by Dick Burkard. I found a marriage in Cumberland Cty. Transcripts of records that are at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg. This marriage record didn't list the parents of the couple and the marriage took place in 1850. Does anyone know if the actual records that are held at the Lutheran Theological Seminary contain more information than what is in the transcripts, and if so, does anyone know the address of the Luth. Theo. Seminary in Gettysburg, and if they do lookups?? Any help will be appreciated. 3. I repeat my offer to do lookups for any new members of the list. I have a copy of a transcript of the Saint Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church Parish Records, 1837-1960 and will be happy to do lookups of births, baptisms, marriages, and funerals. Unfortunately, the lists of communicants and confirmands in the original registers are not included in this transcript. The original records are at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg. 1. [PAFRANKL] WARNER Genesee County "Overseer of the Poor" WARNER (KMO)
    2. Hello All, I am asking for any help anyone can give me regarding the dead-end I have hit regarding my WARNER roots in Genesee County, Michigan. The family I am seeking is that of WASHINGTON WARNER and his wife Mary (unknown maiden name). In the 1860 census, three of their children are shown: GEORGE (1847), LYDIA 1850) and EMORY BRADFORD WARNER ( my great-grandfather) (1852). All three were born in Flushing Township (Genesee County, MI). By 1880, Emory Warner has married CAROLINE PERKINS, whose family hailed from Jefferson County, New York and settled in Hemlock (Saginaw County), MI. Washington WARNER's occupation is listed as a shoemaker, a trade carried on by his sons. The 1860 census records also show that Washington and Mary were born in New York, but the 1880 census shows them being born in Pennsylvania. A book titled "The History of Genesee County" (MI) written around 1890, shows Washington Warner listed under "Overseers of the Poor 1848. There are Warner references in Eaton and Shiawassee Counties, MI. Family lore from my 95 year old cousin says The Warner family in Pennsylvania might have been from the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh areas, with a reference to "Pennsylvania Dutch," which surprised me because I have been told my Warner's emigrated from either England or Ireland. Yes, I'm confused too! Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. Any information will be 100% more than I have right now. Can I sound any more pitifully desperate? 3. I agree that it would be nice for everyone to consider becoming a member of the Kittochtinny Historical Society. They are just the greatest bunch (2-3) of people. I have never seen a place that is as helpful as they are. I live in Kansas but have been back there 4 times in the past 2 years and can't wait to go again. I joined the first time I was there, but it is true that sometimes you have to wait awhile for your response but it is usually worth the wait. Beside the fact that the money would really help them out, members receive a newsletter that is very informative. It contains information regarding current goings on and also a page of history about Franklin County, it's towns and it's people. --- Donna Cushing cush_d@eudoramail.com RESEARCHING: HARVEY, McCURDY, KILGORE, McVITTY, BITTINGER, WITHEROW, PIPER, CAMPBELL, WITCHEY Join 18 million Eudora users by signing up for a free Eudora Web-Mail account at http://www.eudoramail.com

    3. Folks, If you request a lookup from this Hist. Soc. or from any organization, please make sure you include a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelop) with your request. I talked with the Pres. of the Hist. Soc. and she said they are receiving numerous requests for lookups that do not include a SASE -- without a SASE there is NO lookup -- Also consider that this Hist. Soc. receives several hundred lookup requests each year and presently they have, at most, 3 volunteers available to research these requests -- so be specific in your request as to what info you are seeking - And make sure you include your SASE ---- And for those who are planning to visit the Hist. Soc. --- starting Dec. 1 they will be open only 12 hours a week -- check their web page for the days and times. http://www.rootsweb.com/~pakhs/ If you're uncertain as to what size envelop should be used for a SASE, email me at baha@bitxbit.net Regards Barbara PAFRANKL list admin

    2. What would be great is if we could get a membership drive going here for the Society. It takes a lot of time, money and effort to run a Historical Society. If all of us on the list would become members of the Kittochtinny Historical Society (read Franklin County Historical Society) it would really make a difference. Also for those that live in Franklin County, it would be nice to volunteer your time and services to the Society. They could always use a hand. We hope that you consider this. For more information check their website out at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pakhs/ We hope you will seriously consider this. Thanks! Don & Jeanine
