The yearly service at Rocky Spring Presbyterian Church will be held this Sunday, June 11, at the church. The memorial service begins at 2 pm and the church service at 3 pm. Everyone is invited! This church was founded about 1738 when the county was still part of Lancaster County. The present building was built in 1794 and has been little changed since. For more information, including a list of members, burials in the graveyard and sketches of both the interior and exterior see Egle's "Notes and Queries" Fourth Series, Volume II, pp 98-108.

Hi group, I need a helping hand on this one. Looking for a Grace PATTERSON (surname) born 1892-93, we think in Rouzerville. In 1910 she had a son David E. PATTERSON, born 12-22-1910. His birth Cert says place of birth Franklin County, Township Washington, Borough, Rouzerville. The father is listed as C. PROVARD, (I have his Info) On April 22, 1914, David was taken to the Orphanage, I believe he was 4. The person who brought him to the Orphanage was the Director of the Poor Through Margaret R. Amberson. David later was taken to a farm at the age of 11-12 and he worked on the Farm of Harry Osbaugh. David was indentured in 1921. (free to go) What happened to Grace PATTERSON? Who were her parents? Did she ever marry? We need closure for David he will be 90 years old this year, I am frantically looking for info to complete his family tree. His birthday is coming up soon we are having a family reunion in July (early Birthday) and this would be the best gift anyone could give another. He seems to think that Grace was put into the poor house due to a break down, this is unconfirmed, but all possibilities are on the table at this point. I can be reached at Blumoo8133@aol.com please email me if you or someone you know can do a look up for me. Oh and what is the year the Death certificates were documented? Maybe I can find Grace PATTERSONs Death Certificate. Thank you all for reading this long post. Wish me good thoughts. David is grateful to all who are willing to help. Stacy
We suspect that some of our GRUNEWALD/GREENWALD(T) family may have lived in Franklin Co before moving to Frederick Co MD around 1750. They were mostly German Reformed. Some of their first names were Philip, Joseph (sometimes called Yost), John, and Johann Adam, Anna Maria, Margaret, and Susannah. In the next decade they started spelling their name GREENWOOD. I would like to hear from others researching this family. I have much info to share.
Just a quick note while the Franklin County census is the topic. The 1790 Franklin is full of errors, so don't despair if you do not find your ancestor listed. The first section (Fannet, Hamilton, Letterkenny, Montgomery and Peters) has many transcription errors, not all due to poor spelling by the census taker. For example, my Samuel WALKER is listed on page 113 (first column) is listed correctly, but his brother Robert who lived next door is listed as Robert WALTERS. Thomas HERRON is listed as Thomas HEVRAN etc. Copies of the handwritten census are difficult to find, but they are available. National Archives has the printed copy on microfilm as their regular 'handout' if you are reading in Room 400, Washington, but it is possible to get them to give you a filmed copy of the handwritten original. I have not tried to order the original from Salt Lake. perhaps someone has and can share their information. Carolyn

Was there a paper in Chambersburg in 1847-1850? Is there someone who can do lookups for Franklin Co. papers of this period? Are the papers indexed anywhere? I am looking for a marriage between a Heffelfinger groom and a Stouffer bride. Or perhaps a death or a move or some reason why William J. Heffelfinger, age 2, was living with Catherine Stouffer, age 70, in 1850, and living with Christian Stouffer, age 40, in 1860. And some clue as to who his parents were. Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: <weberc_r@clark.net> To: <PAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 31, 2000 11:38 AM Subject: [PAFRANKL] 1854 Marriages > >From the _Village Record_, > Waynesboro, PA > 28 Sep 1854 > > MARRIAGES > At Chambersburg on Sunday last, by the > Rev.
