Can any one tell me anything about the subj minister and his family? He was preaching in DuBois circa 1880 Thank You Don Miller
Sorry about my last message, sent it to the wrong list. Let's try this again..... I'm looking for info on a Joel F. Plum and Fanny Hoover. Joel was born 1827 in Clay Licke, Franklin, PA and Fanny was born 1829 in Clay Licke, Franklin, PA. They married each other abt 1851 in Chambersburg, Franklin, PA. They were apparently in Franklin Co for quite some time. They had kids born in Chambersburg from 1852 until at least 1864. I'm wondering if anyone has any info on this family. I'm specifically looking for Joel and Fanny's children's names. Would also like to get any good info on Fanny Hoover's parents. I have conflicting reports on who her parents were: John Hoover and Leah or Jacob Hoover and Fannie Crow. Thanks in advance for any info you can dig up. I really appreciate your time. Jennifer Wescoatt Jensen jengen@inconnect.com
Hi. I'm new to the list. I'm looking for some info on two of my ancestors. Joel F. Plum was born 1827 in Clay Licke, PA and died 1892 in Seward, NE. In abt 1851 (in PA) he married Francis (Fanny) Hoover who was born 1829 in Clay Licke, PA and died 1894 in Seward, NE. They have at least one child (daughter Fanny Plum b. 1853 PA, d. 9 Sep 1830) buried in Seward with them. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that Joel and Fanny Hoover Plum are actually buried in Seward (sorry, don't know a cemetery name)? And is there any biographical info out there on this couple? I'm trying to clarify the parents of Fanny Hoover, specifically. Thanks a million! Jennifer Wescoatt Jensen jengen@inconnect.com

Found this on the Berks site. Subject: [PABERKS] New mailing lists for Census lookups at rootsweb. Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000 01:08:41 -0500 (CDT) From: audiana@webtv.net (Diana Quinones) To: PABERKS-L@rootsweb.com Thought this might come in handy, if you are needing a census look-up from another State. This was on the MODOUGLAS-L list today. PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR LISTS AND FRIENDS ;) Hello Everyone ! I have had to reword and rework the guidelines for the CENSUS-LOOKUP mailing lists and also include subscription instructions. I am sending these below. The lists have been growing like crazy since I created them three days ago and I expect the growth to continue as the word spreads. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in joining. Of course the more people we have the more help we will be for each other. Please keep in mind that we are only a few days old and if your lookup request is not answered, try again in a week or two. Some of the state lists have already reached over 150 subscribers <G> Others have not been "advertised" as much and have fewer members. Hang in there and don't get discouraged if you're not answered right away. These lists will be a great asset to our research after we reach the people and let them know that these lists are available. I am encouraging everyone to send this email to their surname and county mailing lists as well as to our cousins. Finally, if you have the material to help a fellow researcher, please use it. Thanks, Kelly Kellygirl3398@mpinet.net (Subscription information at the end of this e-mail) PLEASE READ ENTIRE EMAIL!!! ================================== Guidelines for posting to the lists: Established 11 October 2000 EMAIL SUBJECT LINES: COUNTY,YEAR,SURNAME NO FLAMING or you will be unsubbed without notice. By this I mean not only being rude or mean to each other but there will be NO and I do mean NO debating here about the Census Projects. This list is for everyone who wants to research. NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties." Be specific. Name the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as much info as possible. LIMIT your requests to ONE PER CENSUS YEAR and SURNAME My Mama taught me that 'Thank you' and 'Please' are always nice too :) A few people have emailed me asking how to sign up for the new lists and what to do. - -------------------------------------------- 1. All lists are XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D-request@rootsweb.com for digest The XX is to be removed and the two letter abbreviation for the state you are looking in added in its place. Examples: MI-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com CA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com IL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com 2. So, send an email to the one of your choice (make sure to have the state). Put NOTHING in the subject line. In the body of the email write only: subscribe Then send it on :) 3. POSTING to the new census lists: A. Send it to XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com (supply the two letter state code for the XX again) B: Subject line MUST have the following: County/Year/Surname Example: Saginaw/1850/Smith C: In the body of the email: List whom you are looking for. Supply as much information as you can. Birthplace, ages, occupation, etc. D: Mail it on! That's it folks :) I hope that helped. I have put the list of states and two letter codes below for you: AL Alabama AK Alaska AZ Arizona AR Arkansas CA California CO Colorado CT Connecticut DC District Of Columbia DE Delaware FL Florida GA Georgia HI Hawaii ID Idaho IL Illinois IN Indiana IA Iowa KS Kansas KY Kentucky LA Louisiana ME Maine MD Maryland MA Massachusetts MI Michigan MN Minnesota MS Mississippi MO Missouri MT Montana NE Nebraska NV Nevada NH New Hampshire NJ New Jersey NM New Mexico NY New York NC North Carolina ND North Dakota OH Ohio OK Oklahoma OR Oregon PA Pennsylvania RI Rhode Island SC South Carolina SD South Dakota TN Tennessee TX Texas UT Utah VT Vermont VA Virginia WA Washington (state) WV West Virginia WI Wisconsin WY Wyoming Diana ______________________________

Hi everyone, I am still working on the CARR family in Antrim Twsp. Does anyone have a listing of undertakers in that area for 1898-1910? My "possible" James d. 1899; his wife Nancie d. 1907; Dau. Maggie d. 1900. Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you, Pat in Montgomery Co., PA
Rev. Ed. Breidenbaugh was a Lutheran minster in the small villege of Upton, which is west of Greencastle on Route 16 going to Mercersburg. This infromation is from History of Franklin Co., 1887, page 571. Page 546 List ZION'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH OF GREENCASTLE, list of minsters, Jmes M. Harkey, 1850; Edwin Breidenbaugh, 1852; William F. Eyster. 1805 (etc.) Judy
Does anyone know anything about Rev. E. BREIDENBAUGH? Such as, what church was he affiliated with? He performed a marriage on 23 Feb. 1865 for Lizzie CARR, Antrim Twsp and James WILSON, NYC. This was in the Franklin Repository on 1 Mar 1865. Lizzie CARR b. 1846 in Ireland was the daughter of Hugh CARR b. 1813 Ireland. If I had a name of a church I might be able to break down my *brick wall*. Thanks for any help that you can offer. Pat SMITH, Montgomery Co., PA Searching- CARR, SHOCKEY, NEWELL, HOOVER

Here's a curve ball. I am hunting for a Edward Carl. He was my grandfather. I know that he spent some time in Greencastle but his children settled in Chambersburg. I heard stories about him being something in law enforcement briefly but I can't find any documentation on that. He was career military but no birth place or birth parents are listed anywhere. I visited the Historical Society in Chambersburg to look for my g-grandfather James CARR (ca 1840-1900?). I found a listing for his obit in the card catalog- Jan 11, 1899. I then looked in the Antrim Twsp burials book. I found 2 James CARR's. One married to a Nancy and the other to an A. (My grandfather J. Sherman CARR obit states that his parents were James & Annie CARR) I found the James and Nancy CARR tombstones in the Browns Mill Cemetery. Does anyone know where the other James CARR and Annie are buried? Both men died in Jan. 1899. Are they the same person? Thanks for any help in this mystery, Pat (NEWELL) SMITH, Montgomery Co., PA
Richard, Do you know of any earlier ancestors? Carr and Kerr were interchangable, my Kerr's I belive were in Antrim in the 1760's, the ancestor I am looking for is Valentine (Felty) Kerr, he also has shown up as Car. Sally
I am seeking information on ancestors of John McLaughlin who was born between 1806 and 1816 in Franklin County. John was the husband of Maria Pensinger. Also, am seeking information on immigrant Pensinger and relatives in Germany. All replies appreciated. Gene McLaughlin McLean, VA
I am researching Joel F. Frederick who married Martha Harris in October 1878 in Concord. Martha was born around 1842, died Feb 16, 1923. Joel died July 1891. According to his military records, he is burried at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Concord, Fannett twp, Grave 21. I looked up in the yellow pages for a Presbyterian Church in Concord. I do not see one listed there. Does anyone know where this cemetery is and who is in charge of it? Also does anyone have any information on Martha Harris? Did Joel and she have any children? She is his second wife at least. He had left my gggrandmother in Cumberland County some time between 1861 and 1878. I do not know his birthdate. He may have been from Chester County. Any help is appreciated. Cathy Huneke _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
