Below is a family that I have been trying to fill in for a number of years. I am specifically interested in finding more information on Annie and John Middaugh, Edward and May McLaughlin, Frank McLaughlin, Demmie Yocum and Clark Lester McLaughlin. Family legend states that Clark McLaughlin for sometime took up the occupation of arsonist and was burning down churches in Franklin County. Have not been able to corroborate that. According to Sarah Vivian Pyles McLaughlin's obituary from 14 January 1940, the following children survived: Mrs. Annie Midaugh, Harry and Clark McLaughlin and Mrs. Nettie Grove of Doylesburg, Edward McLaughlin of Center Valley, Bedford County, Frank McLaughlin of Arona, Mrs. Demmie Yocum of Lansdale and Gilmore McLaughlin. I have been told that Annie Midaugh died in 1961, but I cannot find a death notice. I have also been told the Edward McLaughlin died in Cumberland, MD in 1941 and had many children, some that are still living there. Anyone with information on this family, please contact me. Carolyn et al, Would the following post also refer to christening and marriage records for Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church, Franklin Co.? Are these records available from the Kittochtinny Historical Society? Time frame, 1780--1820? Thanks for any help or insight. The only other Presbyterian Church in Path Valley was (and still is) at Spring Run. The church and county histories are rather vague on the issue, but apparently there was some early problems between the two churchs. I have noticed that families who belonged to one rarely show up in the records of the other. Outside of Path Valley, there is a Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring in Chambersburg, Rocky Spring northwest of Chambersburg, plus a couple of others. Records for all of these churchs are very scarce. Lower Path Valley, except for the marriages which are incomplete, start at 1851. Even then there are no baptisms. Kittochtinny has a few records for Falling Spring. In Cumberland County, there are a few records for Middle Spring and Big Spring, neither of which are complete. Hi,, I've been looking for information of my ancestors: John Campbell, 1779-1835, who married 1800 Isabel Orr,, 1780-1855, but can't find proof of their births, marriage, baptisms of their six children: John Campbell, b. 1803 James Campbell, b. 1805 Margaret Campbell, b. 1808 Alexander Campbell, b. 1810 Mary Ann Campbell, b. 1812 Isabel Campbell, b. 1817 This family was active in Lower Path Valley Pres. Church and there are marriage records that Rev. McGinley married James and Margaret, but no baptism records for any of them. Was there an early Pres. Church in Chambersburg where John and Isabel might have been baptised & married, and where their children might have been baptised? What a puzzle. If anyone has any info. about the church or about them, please let me know. GAil Barham

Hello: I saw the query on the Franklin Co. rootsweb listserve. I am searching for information about the Meyers family from Franklin Co. (Letterkenny township area) also. I am looking for information about a Lydia Meyers, b. ~ 1817. (I noted your spelling was Myers, but perhaps this is just a variation). Her married name was Elm or Ellem. In the 1860 Franklin Co. census I found the following information: Lydia Ellem (head of household), age 43, Letterkenny township Margaret Ellem, age 17, Letterkenny township Mary Ellem, age 12, Letterkenny township Rebecca Ellem, age 15, Letterkenny township Rebecca Ellem (Elm) is my 2nd great grandmother. She married Enos P. Reifsnyder on Sept. 5, 1867. They moved to Renovo PA after my great grandmother, Flora Rebecca was born in 1868. I have been unable to find anything about the parents of Enos. He was born in Perry Co. in 1842. I have the death certificate for Rebecca, and only her mother is listed (maiden name, Lydia Meyers, not Lydia Ellem). If you look on the Valley of the Shadow website, you will find the 1860 census information. Here is the address: www.jefferson.village.virginia.edu/vshadow2/tour. They are intending to add the 1870 census date sometime in the future. Perhaps this will help you with your brick wall. Please write me if you have information to share about the Meyers family in Franklin Co. I look forward to hearing from you. I looked at the web site and there were lots of Myers, but no Meyers listed. Robin Rathman in Tucson, Arizona
Hello list, I hope some kind soul out there can do a census lookup to help me break thru my brick wall. I'm looking for the family of John and Annie Myers. They had a son, Daniel, born 1859 so he should be about 11 years old in the 1870 census. I think the family lived in the Letterkenny-Metal Township-Chambersburg area. Thank you all in advance for any help.
