I am not researching this line, but have answered questions on it before. Your Samuel Jones died 22 Mar 1870, 'born August 18, age about 77 years and 7 months' according to the Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church records. His wife Mary born 1791, died 6 Apr 1880, age 89 years. Neither are on the 1851 list of communicants so they must have joined the church after that date. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mike & Tammy <mikej1957@mindspring.com> To: <PAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2001 10:43 AM Subject: [PAFRANKL] Franklin Co. I do not have access to the 1840 census, but the Jacob Tanner of the 1850 Franklin, Guilford Twp,(pg 117) is 45, wife Susan 41, children Rebecca 17, John 14, Jacob 12, Samuel 7, William 4, all in household born PA. In 1850 Fulton, there is a Jacob Tanner age 10 born PA in the household of FannyHess, age 58, pg 41, Ayr Twp. These are the only two Jacob Tanners in the 1850 PA index. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DJS2084@aol.com> To: <PAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2001 10:11 AM Subject: [PAFRANKL] JACOB TANNER > Could SKS with access to 1840 and/or 1850 fed census look up a JACOB TANNER, > wife CHARITY. 1840 census has him in Letterkenny Twp - 1850 census Guilford > Twp. I am trying to find other people researching the John A. Jones, Sr. line. He was born in England and then lived and died in Franklin Co., PA. His wife was Elizabeth "Unknown" I have seen her name as Somerset but have nothing to substantiate that. He was very prolific and has descendants spread out all over. JOHN A.JONES, SR. (JOHN9, ROBERT8, HENRY7, EDWARD6, WALTER5, JOHN4, JOHN3, JOHN2, ROBERT AP1 MADOC) was born December 24, 1729 in Worcestershire, England, and died July 24, 1840. He married ELIZABETH UNKNOWN. I have not been able to access the Franklin County queries recently - keep getting a message 'page is unavailable' Is anyone else having this difficulty? Carolyn Please note my new address - cks@pa.net .
Is there anyone who could do a lookup on the following family: SHOCKMAN, Adam - Guilford Township, Franklin Co. page 305 I would greatly appreciate being able to find the male/female count by age. I believe this is very likely my 3x-great-grandfather. My g.g.grandfather, Philip Shookman, was born in Franklin Co. in 1834, and his brother John in 1831. Does anyone know what other records might be available from about the 1830-1840 time span in the county? Thank-you for any help you are able to offer. Karla staudt@cptelco.net
Hello Fellow Listers: I recently attempted to send two images in file form to the list of pictures of Wollaston Hall that were sent to me from Dr. Collins. I was unaware that this was forbidden - and rightly so, due to possible contaminations, etc.. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused..... If you are interested in receiving these files in a "jpeg" file please contact me personally. Also THANK YOU to all who have attempted to locate this building... Dr. Collins is greatly appreciative! > I am forwarding two files which contain images of Wollaston Hall of > Stourbridge, West Midlands, UK. These are from Dr. Collins. I have written to Dr. Collins and referred him to A&E on the "America's Castles" series. It is likely that Wollaston Hall has been incorporated into one of the mansions built by our Guilded Age Millionaires. Perhaps those of you who live near such a structure can check with the historian or caretaker to see if Wollaton Hall was used in it's construction. I also advised Dr. Collins to look beyond PA since it may have only been purchased there and assembled elsewhere. Even here in southwestern Ohio there are homes with imported elements. Wayne Seibert
Hello Fellow Listers: Please find below a message/request that was forwarded to me via the PACAMBRI-List. I have never heard of this building but maybe someone on one of the lists has and can help...... Donna HELLER ZINN of Newville, Cumberland Co., PA. ****************************************** From: Dr Paul Collins [mailto:CollinPH@hhs.bham.ac.uk] Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 5:30 AM To: nate@pa-roots.com Subject: Wollaston Hall Hello There I wonder if you can help me. I am Chairman of a local history group in Wollaston, Stourbridge, West Midlands UK. We are trying to trace the whereabouts of our former manor house - Wollaston Hall - which was dismantled and sent to America, we believe to Eastern Pennsylvania, around 1927. Wollaston Hall stood overlooking the works of John Bradley & Co where the 'Stourbridge Lion' locomotive was made in 1828. So far we have been able to substantiate that the hall - a timber Tudor building - was bought by an American, dismantled, and exported to Eastern Pennsylvania, we believe, sometime in 1927 or possibly in 1928. The Hall bears the date 1617, carved into one of the main timbers over its front door. Would it be possible to have a message about our search posted somewhere so that it could reach as many people as possible? It would also be helpful if we could have addresses/contacts/e-mail addresses for History groups or societies, especially ones in the Eastern part of Pennsylvania, to whom I could forward this enquiry directly. I can supply photographs of the Hall by e-mail. I would be grateful for any help/advice you could give me. We find it impossible to believe that, if there is any truth to this story, there is not someone somewhere who may know something about this building. One of the many stories concerning it is that is was the first such export of a building from the UK to the USA. Could you also cc any e-mail to my home on:- paul.collins@yesit.co.uk Thank you in advance.
