Not finding any Weaver , there are lots of Illegible . This might have been the McCune Family Cemetery before the Church was there , about 40% of the names are McCune . Then there is also just those who were buried with only initials , like JBS, HB , GB etc, etc, etc. Kathy --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Hi Joyce and list, According to my native-language German husband: "'Die Traung hat im Hause, Namlich seinem eigenem Stadt gefunden' means 'the marriage took place in the home, namely, his own.' "The German lost something somewhere. Correctly written, it should be 'Die Trauung hat im Hause, nämlich seinem eigenen, statt gefunden.' The use of 'stadt' instead of 'statt' is old usage and, therefore, probably correct in the context. I have written it how it would be written, capitalized and spelled today." Hope that helps. Nance: This last Summer I went up to the Quincy area of Greene Twp. and saw at least three cemeteries with mostly Germanic names, there is a Mt. Zion Church in Quincy and a very large cemetery with old burials in it. I don't have a list of the burials but maybe Kittchotinny Hist. Soc. does. Hello Glenn and Fellow Listers: You should be able to access phone numbers and addresses via the internet. You can go to http://www.Dogpile.com and highlight [click on] White Pages and then type the name in the box [do the search]. There are other of these types of search engines... but I like Dogpile. Hope this helps. I do not know the cemetery where my gggrand parents are buried. They lived in the Little Cove area and my ggggrandfather, Jacob Seavolt/Sewalt, worked in his later years in Sylvan. I believe he was part of the Zion Lutheran Church but have nothing to confirm it. He was born 2/22/1793 (Holland, PA or MD) and died 11/6/1876. His wife, my ggggrandmother was Lydia "Catherine" (Miller) Seavolt/Sewalt and since she died earlier I am not sure that they were buried at the same cemetery. She was born 5/7/1802 supposedly in Franklin Co, PA and died 12/27/1839 in Little Cove, Franklin Co, PA. On both of these lines I have hit brick walls on their origins. Church Plaque @ Fayetteville, PA Here's a page off of my website for my genealogy work. Thought everyone would like to see it... http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genkim/Renfrew/renfrew.html I am researching the Renfrews. I had no idea my forefathers lived in this area until I moved here and heard about the Renfrew Museum. I took it from there! Kim Sechrist
Wilma: I was recently there, the main cemetery is located on the south side of Route 16 just as you enter Mercersburg and across the road from Marshall Academy. What you need to do is call or go to the funeral home , their name is : Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, telephone 717-328-2812they have all the records for that cemetery. Can't remember the street they are located on, but it's right off main street (rt. 16). There are also that I know of two very old nearby cemeteries one is the Seceder Cemetery off of Rt. 16, however with few excepts all the stones are gone, the other one that I know of it Slate Hill Cemetery, Church Hill Road, Kittchotinng Hist. Soc. I think has a record of the burials there. Fairview Cemetery across Rte 16 from Mercersburg Academy - nee Marshall College(founded 1836) - this school merged with Franklin College founded 1787 in Lancaster, PA to become F & M College Michael ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
