I can trace them back to: Name: Johan Heinrich SCHEDDERON Death: BEF. 18 JAN 1772 Marriage 1 Anna Maria HERBACH Among their children is my ancestor: Maria Catharina SHEDERON b: ABT. 1730 in Otterberg, Germany. She married Johann Peter GUTLIN/GUDLING (GOODLING). Other researchers have traced the SCHEDDERON line even further back to Sedan. France. They were Huguenots who fled France and settled in Germany long before they emigrated from Germany to Pennsylvania. I believe the original spelling of the name is SHETRONE. Joan

    3. Thank you Jim....when you have time is fine...not like my ancestors are going anywhere soon..(that is a joke.) From information I got from other family members the Seavolts are as such: (Seavolt might be spelled: Sewalt, Seybold, Sevalt, or some thing similar.) Cyrus Seavolt who might also be Jacob Seavolt came to PA after 1780 His children: Henry born Holland(?) Martin b 1776-1794 Holland married Martha Swend/Swank Mathias b 1781-1785 Holland but might be PA d 6/26/1853 Little Cove Jacob b 2/22/1793 Holland or PA d 11/6/1876 MD married Lydia Catherine Miller Mary Seavolt b 1796-1797 PA d aft 1860 probably Franklin Co PA married James Edminston Sarah A Seavolt b 9/23/1803 MD d 1/20/1887 Fulton Co, PA married John Souders Martin's possible children: Samuel Seavolt b 1839 John b 1849 Mathias known children: John Seavolt b 11/20/1810 Little Cove d 1/7/1888 OH married 1) Sarah and 2) Ann Zimmermann Jacob Seavolt b 8/5/1812 Little Cove d 4/20/1872 OH married Lydia Elizabeth Swan (he had 2 sons born in Little Cove, William 5/17/1835 and Benjamin Franklin b 8/22/1836.) It has been suggested that she might be a daughter of George Miller Jr. Some of the family were involved with Mt Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church others might have been members of the Brethren church or loosely affiliated with it. 3. Hello Willie, I have a book by the title of "History of The Church of the Brethren in Southern District of Pennyslvania." It was first published in 1941 and reprinted in 1966. Do you have any other names than Knepper to look up? There is one Knepper family that I know of that attends the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. Their daughter, Phyllis Kegerreis, goes to the same Brethren church that I do. I will connect with her. Also, something to consider is that a significant number of Brethren settled in Franklin County, Virginia in the mid 1700's! "The Old German Baptist Brethren" by Charles D. Thompson, Jr was just published in 2006 and has tons of names and history. 2. Nance, I am curious about the following that you wrote: I have also wondered if they were part of the Brethren community at one time and switch to the Lutheran church. Some of the Houck's stayed with the Brethren. Some of Jacob's daughter's families migrated to IL with the group of the Brethrens in 1854-1855. I suspect that my Franklin County ancestors were also at one time affiliated with the Brethren church. They also moved to Illinois in the same period in which your ancestors migrated. For quite a while, I belonged to the Brethren mailing list in hopes of confirming that suspicion. I've not yet found a definite link to the church, despite many items pointing that direction, but perhaps you might be interested in this list that I found to be very helpful: _http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Religion/BRETHREN.html_ (http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Religion/BRETHREN.html) Where in IL did your suspected Brethren's settle? My GIPE family (wife's surname was BARNCORD) settled in Bureau County. The year is not known. However, one child was born in Indiana in April 1855 and the next was born in IL about May 1857 (estimated). It isn't known where they settled in IL since they are missing from the 1860 census. The property in Bureau was purchased in 1861. It is possible that they came over with others and are enumerated with them in 1860 under an incorrect spelling. I enjoy sharing these sorts of migration patterns because I think it gives each of us further clues to explore in our family roots. Shelly
