Hi Gordon, Yes, I believe we are talking about the same James Johnston. I understand from some sources he was one of the first settlers in Antrim Twp., Cumberland Co., now Franklin Co., PA. I am a descendant from his son Thomas & Martha Beatty, their son James & Mary Perry, their son James & Martha Allison, their son James A. & Rebecca Ann Hill, their son Charles Parmalee & Grace Rosemond Frederick (my grandparents). Nancy
Nancy: Are we talking about James Johnston a early settler in Franklin Co.?Who was involved with Crunkleton, Snivley, and Roddy with land transaction with the Penn's? If so I would be very interested. Thanks for sharing it, Rob. For those with roots in Waynesboro, a keyword search brought up the official program for the 1947 Sesquicentennial show. http://www.libraries.psu.edu/do/digitalbookshelf/28554627/28554627_whole.pdf#page=20 It includes a bit of history on the town, and lots of names. I had to giggle while looking through the program, when I found my aunt, Anna Spangler, listed among the "squaws." I just can't picture her portraying a squaw. :-) Although I didn't come along until a bit *after* 1947, I recognized quite a few names, of people who were later my teachers in school, church members, etc. I'll be playing around with the search function at the site for awhile, I think... Peace, Willie

I was a little confused by the original email -- someone couldn't receive from the list, or send to the list? and they attributed it to a virus? I think it was from a hotmail account? If so, this is probably not a virus but an issue with the list migration. A couple of things I'm learning from the LIST-UPDATE list: 1) if anyone on the list blocks a particular sender (or domain), it can mess up mail for the whole list, 2) some ISPs (I'm not sure about hotmail) are rejecting mail from the new RW server, thinking it's spam, and 3) there's a conflict with some ISPs/email clients with the new RW software/hardware, and messages are stripped out so all you get is a blank message. Anyone having problems with RW mail after migration might want to check out the archives of the LIST-UPDATE list to see if their problem's been addressed. You may want to subscribe as well, but it's a fairly high volume list and sometimes gets pretty technical, so be prepared. Maybe someone with a better handle on all this can figure out if the original message was describing a migration problem? Claire K.
