    1. Re: [PAFRANKL] [PACUMBER] Bus Trip to Washington D.C.
    2. Peggy K. Reeves
    3. Hello, For those who are planning a trip to the National Archives in D.C., you should be aware of changes that may affect you. After the recent budget cuts, as well as the flooding, NARA has cut their hours, their services, and the quality of service that you get. Please check their website at: www.archives.gov in order to get the most recent changes to their hours. The other change has to do with the amount of original records that you can see. They used to have six pull times, and you could order up to four service records or pension files in each pull. Now there are only four pull times, at 10:00, 11:00, 1:30, and 2:30, still with a maximum of four files per pull. If you want to order pension files, submit them in the earlier pulls so you have time to resubmit the request if they reject it the first time. When they are busy with a bus trip full of people, they give out a lot more rejection slips than usual. Fortunately, the flood-damaged cafeteria is up and running again, but I recommend you bring your own lunch. I thought I would pass along this information so you can plan accordingly to get the most out of your trip. 3. Hi Kenneth: I am sorry but I can't remember what I said. Could you add what I said so I can figure out how to help you. It sort of rings a bell but...???Oh wait it was not me I remember now it was the midatlantic website that has put up some of the pages to that book. I wrote as right when it was getting interesting about the French & Indian War it quit and i was asking if the site was going to put up more pages or not. Sure hope so. If you go their website you can view what pages they put up. The info should be on the left side and called something like Chambersburg. http://www.midatlanticarchives.com/ Hope this helps. 2. Hi Gaile: I have direct ancestors in Guilford Twp, Franklin Co. Their name is Harmony. They were there in exactly the same time that you mention. How could I get a copy of the Chambersburg book? Thank you, Kenneth S. Moore

    3. Linda & Willie: If you go to Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg you will probably have to go to the Linderman's Funeral Home to find out if you have ancestors buried there and at what location. I can't remember the name of the street they are located on, but its right off of main street and anyone you stop will probably know their address.
