Dee,where did you find the info re Ursula TEAL's birth date and location? Sounds like it came from the book written by Celeste Pember Hazen about the PEMBER family. She wrote the TEAL children's births were in Halloway, when it really should have been Hallowell, Ontario. The TEALLs spelled their name TEALL, TEAL, and TEEL. In a civil document I also saw it spelled Thiel. To this day some of the family spell the name TEAL, others TEALL. A descendant has an anvil, I'm told, that belonged to Charles M. and "TEALL" is inscribed on it; so that branch of the family spells the name "TEALL." The John TEAL you found is a son of Charles M. and Clarissa (Pember) TEAL, brother to Ursula. Jane Teal likely was his widow (he d. ca 1845). I thought Charles M. TEAL was in Brokenstraw in 1830, Sugar Grove in 1840. I'd love for Stephen J. BROWN to be the Stephen I'm looking for, but you say that he was in the 1850 Busti census. As Ursula (Teal) BROWN had a new surname in 1850, I doubt this Stephen is the one I seek...if her husband's name really was Stephen...again, a Celeste Pember Hazen bit of info that even she was unsure about. Ursula's sister, Jane, married Elijah BROWN. We wonder if Stephen BROWN was of the same family, but we don't think so, unless Stephen (?)'s name was something else, like Cyrus (the only one of my BROWN brothers I know absolutely nothing about). As for the location of Brown Hill Road: my map shows that it runs roughly north and south, from Jackson Run Road south to Mathews Run Rd. at Youngs- ville.
