    3. I am overwhelmed at the response I have received from all of you on trying to find out bits of info on John Carter of Crawford County. All I can say is, "thanks" beyond words. Like the amateur that I am, I didn't note any dates, etc. to help you with this search. This is what I have so far: John Carter was born ab. 1791 in Mass and married Chloe S. born ab 1798 in Mass. I think her maiden name is Barber. Anyway, their first son, Harvey John Carter was born in 1817 in Crawford County. They also had Eliza Roena who married Erastus Shumway, Elizabeth who married Joseph Verbeck and Joseph. I am not for sure of any other children. And, I am not for sure who Joseph married. I feel that John born ab 1791 was a "John, Jr" since I did find that there was also a John Carter on the 1830 Census for Crawford County, Venango Twp, who would probably be the father, but am not sure. But, the John, Jr. on the same census fits age brackets for all of my descendants. I was just wondering if anyone has a cemetery book of the area and could possible tell where John, Sr. was buried. On the 1830 census he was listed between the age of 70-80, as also was his wife. But, on the 1840 census there was no John Carter at all. I do know that John, Jr. had moved to Granville, Wisconsin, but I don't know what happened to John, Sr and his wife. I would think they were to old to move on so they probably stayed behind or maybe even died before John Jr moved on. I realize this is asking quite a lot of you guys, but it's kinda a stab in the dark if you know what I mean. Again, to say "thank you" seems so inappropriate from all the response I have gotten. Again, thanks. Becky Carter
