    3. Hello If in your travels along the NY / PA highways near Corry PA and Spring Creek, not far from Chaut. Co, you see the name BLUE EYE ROAD Inn, Craft shop etc, you may like to know WHY? I wanted to know and here is what I found, "Blue Eye" was the name of the Indian chief from which one of my how many times great-grandfathers, a man named Henry Brooks (1809-1864), moved to this area and bought 5,000 acres of land in the area now known as "Brooks Hill". The reason the Indian was called "Blue Eye" was because he had one blind eye, which had lost its natural dark pigmentation and turned blue. Anyway, now you know the local legend of Blue Eye. Isn't it amazing that people can live all their lives in an area and never learn the interesting local lore such as the origin of the name Blue Eye?!! Well, curiosity may have killed a cat, but it educated humans. I am like you, always wanting answers. EDIA SILVA Corry PA Thank you Mr Silva, I am off to the Cabin Dee Davidson Chautauqua Co NY
