Hello My G.G. Grandfather Jacob Hartzell II and his wife Catherine Schreckengost are believed to be buried on a farm or by an old church in Gilfoyle PA. Jacob had close ties with the Parson, Blood and Hunt familys in that area. Does anyone have any knowledge of Jacob or about the church? Does Gilfoyle have a library and will they be able to help me? Thank You Elaine

Dear Group: I am relentless at trying to find my gr grandmother's birthplace. I looked at the ENTIRE 1870 census for Warren Co. to try and find the Nelson family I think is hers but to no avail. I just got a letter from Swenson Center saying that they have no records for the Lutheran Church in Brokenstraw. My gr grandmother was living in Brokenstraw in 1880. Do any of you know where these Lutheran records would be reposited? I could write the Historical Society, but they aren't too sure about church records and where they are (I have written before). Have any of you looked for the records in Brokenstraw? Thanks for your help. Diana

They are fishing for new victims. A friend had a second account with AOL and used it only for certain surname and location research. He got an e-mail advertising something that he didn't want and he didn't want to be bothered by this kind of mail, so he replied and told them to take his name off their list. He got more mail than ever and all to this special account name. If you reply, thinking that they will take your name off their mailing list, and you'll never hear from them again, think again. Beware, when you reply, then they know they have a good and valid e-mail address. And guess what they do with that address? Right! They sell it to someone else, so that they can send you more junk mail and so on and so. Don't fall for their line. Hello Warren County, Searching for information and records on the surname LAUTHERBORN originally from Aalborg, Denmark. Records in the Danish Archives on the LAUTHERBORNs show that two brothers, Thorvald Christian (age 23), but later recorded as Christian, and Peter Jorgenson (age 21) LAUTHERBORN registered to sail March 31, 1887, listing Warren, PA as their destination. Five years later, on April 13, 1892, six more LAUTHERBORNs registered to sail also listing Warren as their destination. They were Christian August (60) father, Marie Kirstine (60) mother, Ferdinand Justinius (33) son, Fransine (28) daughter-in-law, Christian (4) grandson, and Elisabeth (11mos.) granddaughter. There was an announcement for the wedding of JOSEPHINE LAUTHERBORN to FREDERICK K. JOHNSON in July of 1882. This precedes the above LAUTHERBORNs and would prove that ancestors were here early 1880s. If anyone could get a photocopy of that announcement from the Warren Ledger, dated July 7, 1882, Page 5, Column 4, it would be greatly appreciated and reimbursed. Does anyone know of other records, and addresses (and fees involved) that might help in our search to prove when these folks came to the U.S. and what happened to them? Thank you, Barbara and David Lautherboren CA DB12251@aol.com

Dear Warren & Forest searchers, I haven't posted for awhile. Always hopeful. Looking for information on any White lines that came from CT and settled in Tidioute area. My ancestor George W. White was born Dec. 18, 1818 in CT. Looking for his parents both born in CT. I have his descendant data if anyone has a White line. Thank you. Carol
To all at Warren Co, and Forest Co, PA. I was careless and failed to eliminate the list from a private posting to my friend Amy. I wish to apologize as it was definitely not my intention to post to the list. I received a very nice message from one of the subscribers, and it may have helped her. Again, my apologies for doing this. Hi Amy: To post to Warren: <PAFOREST-L@rootsweb.com> As you know they share with Forest Co. >I thought I was on the Warren list----I get names but I can't get into > >where it is to respond. Derby tried helping me last week-I thought I >followed her instructions--guess not, it's still the same--too busy to >do >anything about it at the time. Will work on the solution this week. I speak quite a few languages - "damnYankee"; "you know, you'uns; German; and can do a bit of Gaelic, but only in singing songs, if they are ones I recall my Grandfather Gordon and his siblings singing! >I loved your answer---the start-"yeah"---you speak my language. > >Hey--take care, I go back to work tomorrow and welcome getting back >into >normal routine. Your understanding has meant a lot to me Aren't I supposed to encourage my "student" ? Also, my husband died, and I know what the feelings are. Yours more or less died twice, once when the marriage died (divorce) and now it is final. I didn't go through a divorce, so I don't know the turmoil, guilt, remorse, sadness etc., but according to my sister who has, it is supposed to be actually worse than actual death. I will say this. I have not been able to put away my father's death, and really never will. I have too much animosity toward my mother, even though she is dead now! Sonny was very ill, so I prayed the Lord would take him, as his pain was horrible, and for him to live the life of an invalid having to have peritoneal dialysis, and also have to urinate in a bag, would have been a horrible thing for him to do. The dialysis he was ok with. He even insisted that I be taught how to operate the equipment, so I could get him set up if he was not able to do it himself. I learned how to give insulin shots, many years before when My grandmother learned she was a diabetic. I never forgot, and I gave Sonny some of his shots. I also learned to do the blood sugar monitor, and if he wasn't able to do this himself, I could and did. I did mine once a week as I usually would do his on the weekend one time, just to stay in practice. He wished to die, and he made mepromise that if he was realy bad off, to please sign the papers to have no life support if he was unable. I tried to in 1987, but Little Sonny tore them up. This time in 1991, I signed the papers before I ever notified Little Sonny, that his father was dying. I have had a great deal of flak from my d-in-law about this - she's the mouth of that family. I explained to them (Josh still cries if we talk about Grampa) that this was not my decision, this was his decision, and what his requests were I carried out as he would do for me, had I gone first. She maintains that this is wrong. He should have been able to live, and when he finally did die, she was hostile because I did not have him in a casket in a grave! This is not what Sonny wanted nor do I. Cremation and the ashes scattered. To ensure I will have my wishes carried out, neither of my children are to be allowed the say of my health care, or the end. I have others appointed to do everything. Neither can be my guardian if one is needed. I have already chosen my guardian, and an alternate. I also stated in writing and it is on file, that both sons, named cannot have anything to do with anything concerning me, and this is because they would not do as I wish. 'Nuff said- Amy, do not feel guilty about being upset, and yes you will grieve, only natural, and the healing process can begin once you have done so. He was your son's father, and your husband - time will ease the pain and sorrow. Also, you can finally settle all of this and have it behind you. You are welcome----- Alison _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Hi, Diana, If the info you want from the old newspapers relate to VRs, there's a number of volumes of a book,= Marriage and Death Notices Extracted from Warren Co., PA Newspapers= by Joan McRae 1983. The earliest date is 1849, I believe, and goes all the way up to at least 1875. You might try for a lookup from someone on the list who would be willing to go to the Warren Co. Historical Society for you to do a lookup. It'd be less expensive than a researcher....Hope this helps.
