    1. Re: PAFOREST-D Digest V99 #16
    2. Maggie, I looked in the 1870 PA West census index for Lopus and Hannon in Erie County (Corry) or Warren. For Lopus, I found none in Erie. In Warren County: Chas, 27, M, W, NY, Spring Creek Twp, M593, 1461, page 282 Isaac, 77, M, W, NY, Pittsfield Twp, M593, 1461, page 247 James, 26, M, W, NY, Pittsfield Twp, M593, 1461, page 247 Roxane C, 70, F, W, NY, Pittsfield Twp, M593, 1461, page 247 For Hannon, none in Warren County. In Erie County: John, 40, M, W, Irel, Harbor Creek, M593, 1341, 226 John, 43, M, W, Irel, Union Twp, M593, 1341, 402 John, 55, M, W, Irel, 1st Wd Erie, M593, 1340, 293 There are lots of other Hannons in Allegheny, Lawrence, and Mercer, Hanons in McKean and Lawrence, and a Hannor in Allegheny. I also checked Hannans (no Warren or Erie). Hope this helps! 1. 1860 Census Index Lookup
    2. Hello List, Does anyone have access to the 1860 Census index book for PA and would be willing to do a lookup for me. I have access to the film but the quality is so poor I can't seem to find my people. I'm sure these people are there and I thought maybe if I have a page # it would help. I'm looking for BULL's in Warren County and WELDEN's also in Warren County. I have found these families in the 1850 census and according to a journal left by a ggrandmother they lived out their lives in Warren County, PA. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me. Also does anyone happen to know what town a "SMITH HILL" is in Warren County, PA. My ggrandmother refers to her grandparents living on Smith Hill. I know there could be half a dozen but it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks again CMartin

    1. Re: C.A. and REBECCA FARGO
    2. Jody, I don't have the actual census but I do have the index. There is a Fargo household in Warren County in 1870, with Rebecca is listed as head. This is all the info from the index: FARGO, REBECCA, (gender) F, (age) 25, (born) PA, (county of residence) WARREN, (locality of residence) SUGAR GROVE TWP, (census series) M593, (reel) 1461, (page) 301 Do you have any reason to believe the CA was absent or deceased? Then again, it could just be that the census taker wrote her info down first. You'd have to look at the actual census to find out. There are also a number of other Fargos in Western PA at the time, including Alanson (30), Calvin (70), Esther (29), John C. (40), Perry (33), and TJ (64) all in Erie County, Emaline (14) and Harrison (37) in Venango County, , and Zekel (40) in Clearfield County. Rebecca is the only one in Warren County. Hope this helps! Cathy Sheffler > Seeking information on family of C.A. and Rebecca (MCKINNEY) FARGO who > were married 13 Mar 1864 in Warren Co., PA. 3. Jane, my husband has an ancestor, James Hall from Columbus Twp., Warren Co., whose second wife was an Anna Brown...but she was a widow and I'm sorry to say I don't have her 1st husband's name in front of me. She was born July 4, 1804, died Feb. 6, 1873. I know she had several Brown children, one by James Hall. Just file this away somewhere and maybe it will be useful some day. (it's possible she had died by then and he remarried, maybe to Eleanor Cook?) migrated to Brokenstraw from NY ca. 1829. He was in Sugar Grove by the 1830 census. Their children were: Daniel B.-b. 15 Aug 1800 (he migrated to MI with wife Fannie PIKE and his eleven kids ca 1847). Some children were: Daniel D., Erastus P., James C. Elijah M., Loren, Cyrus, Philo M. I have no names of his daughters. Hannah Pelton-b. 18 Oct 1802; m. Joseph ARTERS and lived in Warren Co. all her life. Cyrenus Y, Cyrus F, Eliza, Rebecca, Hiram, Lemuel, Lydia and G. Washington were her children...b. Brokenstraw. Experience-b. ??? I stuck her in here because there was a gap in years until the next son was born. She could have been born just as well in the gap between 1810 and 1813. Allegedly marr. to Loren WICKWIRE (never have found him in the census) at Sugar Grove. Know nothing about her. Cyren(i)us, Jr.-b. ca 1807?; m. to Caroline _______. Migrated to MI about 1847 or so. I believe that Cyren(i)us, Sr. died sometime in the mid 1840s (no proof whatsoever) in Sugar Grove as well as John Pember TEAL, Jane E's brother, who is recorded as having died May 1845. These deaths, I think, caused the family to disburse, migrating to OH, MI, and places I still don't know.
