One is "Irvine Cemetary". Also named "Snyder" or "Andrew Irvine" Cemetary. Your note caught my eye because I am originally from Warren and one of my great-aunts and great-uncles lived on Jackson Ave. I spent many Sunday afternoons as a child at their home. Reading your note brought back some great memories! I asked my parents about the name of the cemetary. They both remembered it, but couldn't remember a name. They contacted two of my aunts who still live in Warren. One didn't know the name of the cemetary, but said she went to school with your grandfather! (Her maiden name was Barbara Ann Brown.) The other aunt volunteers at the Warren County Historical Society. She sent me copies of some information that she found on this cemetary. I can send you the copies if you would like. Just email me your address and I'll put them in the mail. A couple of the pages list the tombstones and the information on them that were there in 1951. I don't know if this is of interest to you. It also gives the location and condition of the cemetary. Hope this was of help. Linda Harvan Baton Rouge, LA --part1_28c2fb66.251fea03_boundary--
Verna, I have been looking up your names in Nelson's Biographical Dictionary and Historical Referene book on Erie County and have found a bit that may interest you. I did not find the name Emma but there are many McCray's and I found that they did live in Concord township. Did she perhaps have brothers named William and Chapman? I also found tha name Ladu but it doesn't have any reference to a marriage to a McCray. I found it interesting though that they also lived in Concord township. If you would like I can type these sketches for you or perhaps scan and email them (I have to go use my parent's scanner). Just let me know if you are interested. There are alot of McCray's listed in the index if you have any other names you'd like me to look up. Chris McClelland
Hello If in your travels along the NY / PA highways near Corry PA and Spring Creek, not far from Chaut. Co, you see the name BLUE EYE ROAD Inn, Craft shop etc, you may like to know WHY? I wanted to know and here is what I found, "Blue Eye" was the name of the Indian chief from which one of my how many times great-grandfathers, a man named Henry Brooks (1809-1864), moved to this area and bought 5,000 acres of land in the area now known as "Brooks Hill". The reason the Indian was called "Blue Eye" was because he had one blind eye, which had lost its natural dark pigmentation and turned blue. Anyway, now you know the local legend of Blue Eye. Isn't it amazing that people can live all their lives in an area and never learn the interesting local lore such as the origin of the name Blue Eye?!! Well, curiosity may have killed a cat, but it educated humans. I am like you, always wanting answers. EDIA SILVA Corry PA Thank you Mr Silva, I am off to the Cabin Dee Davidson Chautauqua Co NY

Hi again Dee, So you must have driven past our front door, at least you did if you came from Spring Creek to Corry. We live just inside the city limits of Corry, on the east side of town. If you had lunch at the Log Cabin on Route 6, that was built by my uncle Vere Baker. He had an ice cream parlor there when I was a teen-ager. It is now owned by my cousin Marshall Baker. In answer to your question, Blue Eye was the local Indian from whom my ancestor Henry Brooks purchased land when he came to this area. I have not been working on the Brooks line, but am relying on some sketchy information that a cousin gave me. It may be his father Stephen who came to this area and bought the land, on second thought. I see that Stephen's second wife, Hannah Geer, is buried in Spring Creek, PA. The Brooks line is English. It is believed, according to the information that I have, that his [and my] immigrant ancestors, Stephen, John, and Henry Brooks came to America from England about 1660. We are descended from Henry, who was born in Cheshire, England in 1639. Incidently, I have some of John Brook's prescriptions for family remedies, but have never tried them! I will try to post this to the Warren Co. list. Maybe there are some Brooks researchers out there who have better information than I do. Anyway, now you know the local legend of Blue Eye. Isn't it amazing that people can live all their lives in an area and never learn the interesting local lore such as the origin of the name Blue Eye?!! Hi Alison Gene Franks and other genealogy virus sufferers: Alison, is there any information in the volumes you have about the marriage of Peter Linquist and Mary (Sweet) Camp on Oct. 6, 1872? I would be very grateful for a look-up. Still looking for Peter's point of migration in Sweden. Thanks so much. Jean Tobey P.S. If you are interested in the Tobey family, i have quite a bit of info on the family of Job Tobey, father of Keziah.
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than ten years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half." You're never 36 and a half ... you're four and a half going on 5. You get into your teens; now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16." You could be 12, but you're gonna be 16. Eventually. Then the great day of your life; you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. You BECOME 21....Yes!! Then you turn 30. What happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED; we had to throw him out. What's wrong? What changed? You BECOME 21; you TURN 30. Then you're PUSHING 40....stay over there. You REACH 50. You BECOME 21; you TURN 30; You're PUSHING 40; you REACH 50; then you MAKE IT to 60. By then you've built up so much speed, you HIT 70. After that, it's a day by day thing. You HIT Wednesday... You get into your 80's; you HIT lunch, you HIT 4:30. My Grandmother won't even buy green bananas. "Well, it's an investment, you know, and may be a bad one." And it doesn't end there.... Into the 90's, you start going backwards. "I was JUST 92." Then a strange thing happens; if you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half" Happy aging! (it's better than the alternative; most days, anyway) >> Dee
