    2. Nancy Hauser
    3. Is Lorenzo a surname? We have a few of those... I've always wondered where the name came from. I know Avery is a surname, and some of the Averys settled in Rensselaer County, NY. I think all of these surnames started out in the New London area of CT, and moved elsewhere. You might look for the Avery in the books: The Groton Avery Clan - huge two volume set of Avery genealogy. > -----Original Message----- > From: Dee Davidson [mailto:jcricket@cecomet.net] > Sent: Saturday, November 20, 1999 10:47 AM > To: PAFOREST-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Lorenzo BROWN, Warren Co PA, 1840-50-60 > > > Hello > I found a Lorenzo BROWN buried in Bear Lake Cemetery, he shows in Census > for Sugar Grove Twp. 3. Does anyone know where I might locate a copy of a booklet given at the end of the year to students in Brown Hill School in Sugar Grove Twp. Warren Co.? I am looking for the 1915 book which has a picture of the attending students on the front and lists the names inside. Wilber Tobey was one of the students. If anyone has a copy they want to keep, I would be glad to pay for scans of the front and lists of names. Kinkos does an excellent job but don't know if they are in PA. Thanks, Jean Tobey

    1. WARNER Genesee County "Overseer of the Poor" WARNER (KMO)
    2. Hello All, I am asking for any help anyone can give me regarding the dead-end I have hit regarding my WARNER roots in Genesee County, Michigan. The family I am seeking is that of WASHINGTON WARNER and his wife Mary (unknown maiden name). In the 1860 census, three of their children are shown: GEORGE (1847), LYDIA 1850) and EMORY BRADFORD WARNER ( my great-grandfather) (1852). All three were born in Flushing Township (Genesee County, MI). By 1880, Emory Warner has married CAROLINE PERKINS, whose family hailed from Jefferson County, New York and settled in Hemlock (Saginaw County), MI. Washington WARNER's occupation is listed as a shoemaker, a trade carried on by his sons. The 1860 census records also show that Washington and Mary were born in New York, but the 1880 census shows them being born in Pennsylvania. A book titled "The History of Genesee County" (MI) written around 1890, shows Washington Warner listed under "Overseers of the Poor 1848. There are Warner references in Eaton and Shiawassee Counties, MI. Family lore from my 95 year old cousin says The Warner family in Pennsylvania might have been from the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh areas, with a reference to "Pennsylvania Dutch," which surprised me because I have been told my Warner's emigrated from either England or Ireland. Yes, I'm confused too! Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. Any information will be 100% more than I have right now. Can I sound any more pitifully desperate? Sarah Angeline BROWN, born in Heath, MA She married William McLAY, born in Glasgow, SCT Their graves are in West Spring Creek Cemetery, Warren Co Anyway, I have the information from MA to present. I've been unable to trace before that. Dale Adams Texas

I know that they had two children but might have been more. They seemed to favour nameing their children with the letter O. i. Olivia A. Brown b. 1840 Ashville d. 1905 Jamestown m. Abner Hazeltine in 1867 Ashville, NY. ii. Orsell Brown died 1881.
