    3. Hi Fayette Friends, My friend in Iowa sent this. It is interesting. Rosalie Subject: Re: [PAFAY] Lack of Tomb Stones on Graves Curious stories. Don't know much about the background of tombstones except for the Amana Colonies - a German communal group of 7 villages near my home town in Iowa Co., IA who came to U. S. in the 1850-60's. The folks there make all their tombstones exactly alike from the same mold, and they all have the same information on them....so no one can be looked down upon or look too high and mighty.... a good concept, and they still follow it today - if they want to be buried in the Amana cemeteries - they can only have the tombstone of "choice" and they are buried in a row as they die....no family plots. So if you know what year someone died, you can walk directly to that year and the village people are all buried there day after day, month after month - just as they passed away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
