    3. Frances, I've learned some great life lessons from genealogy and the internet. 1. Some people don't believe they need to be corrected. Aunt Edith told them something and that's the way it shall always be. It makes no difference how many official documents you have. 2. Some people get a new pc for Christmas, log onto the internet, decide they are going to "be" a genealogist, copy lots of bad information, claim it as their own, upload it to a site and sit back and wait for a prize of some sort. 3. Some people don't know how to get back into the file they posted and make corrections, so they continue uploading files full of bad info to sites like ancestry.com. I'm saddened by all the junk that the LDS site has uploaded. Although they are still, in my opinion, the most reputable, one must now sort through all the trash to come up with good information. 4. Read #'s 1 and 2, again. 5. Last, but not least, I can only correct my own work! I can research, question, document and record my family's histories. I can regret that I didn't keep good documentation when I first began this obsession, but sleep well at night knowing I didn't copy someone else's information that may not have been correct. I've given up on the three greatest genealogy myths; that I descend from an Indian Princess; that someone got mad at someone and changed the spelling of their name, just to get even; and that I can correct someone elses research. I can only correct my own!
