I joined Ancestry for one month and still can't find anyone on those census's. I know that some of you are very good at it and I'm hoping you can help me. I'm desperate. I'm looking for Caroline Goodwin McCarty born in Uniontown in 1898. Her parents were Robert and Margaret Goodwin. She is my grandmother's sister. She married someone named McCarty but he may have died because in the obits for Margaret and her brother Charles it lists all the sisters as Mrs. Joseph Twist, Mrs. Mary Kate David and her as Mrs. Carrie McCarty. ( No mention of a husband). The obits place her as living in Brooklyn NY in 1939 and 1941 (dates of the two obits.) I'd very much like to find her on a census so I could see if she ever had children. Barb, You are in luck! Just go to Ancestry.com and click on the 1930 census. Use the surname, McCarty (don't provide a first name) and put in Pennsylvania and Fayette County and also born in Pennsylvania. Then you should receive a choice of 4-5 individuals. Carrie is listed with three children (no husband): Geraldine, George T. and a daughter, whose name I cannot decipher; perhaps you can. You might also try the 1920 census as well. I tried it and there was a problem with Ancestry at the time and I did not go back to it. You may be able to find her husband's name in the 1920 census.
