John P. MOORES, 92, of Brownsville died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1993, in the Brownsville General Hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1901, in Redhouse, Ky., son of the late Owen and Callie Powell Moores. He retired in 1966 from the Army Corps of Engineers, where he was employed as an assistant lock master at Lock No. 5 in Brownsville. He was a member of Brownsville Lodge 51, I.O.O.F. On Sept. 27, 1927, in Brownsville, he married his wife of 66 years, Martha Derry Moores, who survives. In addition to his wife, survivors are two sons, C.W.O. John P. (Jack) Moores, Jr., U.S. Army (ret.) and his wife, Beryl B. of Brownsville; James M. Moores and his wife, Sharon M. of Silver Springs, Md.; three daughters, Donna J. Barger of Mount Holly, N.J.; Bettie J. Moores of Fairfax, Va., and Mrs. William (Leslie) A. Maczko of Smock; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Eisenbarth of Corbin, Ky., and Mrs. George (Sue) K. Chrisman of Lexington, Ky., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Lt. Col. Jesse T. Moores, and two sisters, Mina ? (the balance of the obit is missing) Not related to me. Just sharing a resource.
