    3. Capt. Leo Francis HUGHES, Jr., 92, of Hiller, Pa., died Wednesday, January 21, 2004, in Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township, Pa. Born June 11, 1911, in Hiller, Pa., he was the son of the late Leo Francis HUGHES, Sr. and Veronica NICHOLSON Hughes. Leo served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was also in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member and past director of Master Mates Pilots Association. He retired from the river after working more than 48 years, half the time in the Pittsburgh District on Pittsburgh boats, with coal companies and steel companies and the other half of the time on barge lines between Pittsburgh and New Orleans. After retiring from working on the river, he retired as a Ford dealer in Brownsville, Pa. Leo was a lifelong member of the Historic Church of St. Peter, in Brownsville, Pa. Leo will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Rose GRECO Hughes, of Hiller, Pa.; and three sisters, Mary Catherine Clark, of Delaware, Patricia HUGHES, of Ohio, and Margaret Camino, of Allison, Pa. Besides his parents, Leo was preceded in death by brothers Robert, John and Bernard HUGHES; and a sister, Vera Evans. The family will receive friends in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, (formerly Confer Funeral Home) 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 24, 2004, until 10:30 a.m., when Prayer Services will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at the Historic Church of St. Peter, with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as celebrant. Interment will be private. Unrelated to me.
